Wednesday 21 May 1980 - The movie "The Empire Strikes Back" was released |
|
The Deleted Scene A furious lightsaber duel is underway. DARTH VADER is backing LUKE SKYWALKER towards the end of the gantry. A quick move by Vader, chops off Luke's hand! It goes spinning off into the ventilation shaft. Luke backs away. He looks around, but realizes there's nowhere to go but straight down. Darth Vader: Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father. Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him! Darth Vader: No, Luke... I am your father! Luke: No. It can't be. That's not true. That's impossible! Darth Vader: Search your feelings Luke... you know them to be true. Luke: NOOoooo! Darth Vader: Yes, it is true... and you know what else? You know that brass droid of yours? Luke: Threepio? Darth Vader: Yes... Threepio... I built him... when I was 7 years old. Luke: No! ... Wait, huh? Darth Vader: Seven years old. And what have you done? Look at yourself. No hand. No job. And you couldn't even levitate your own ship out of the swamp... Luke: But... I destroyed your precious Death Star! Darth Vader: But that was when you were 20! When I was 10, I single-handedly destroyed an entire Trade Federation Droid Control ship! Luke: Well, it's not my fault... Darth Vader: Oh, here we go... "Poor me... my father never gave me what I wanted for my birthday... boo hoo, my daddy's the Dark Lord of the Sith... Nobody loved me... waahhh wahhh!" Luke: Shut up! Darth Vader: You're a slacker! By the time I was your age, I had already exterminated the Jedi knights! Luke: I used to race my T-16 through Beggar's Canyon. Darth Vader: Oh, for the love of the Emperor... 10 years old, winner of the Boonta Eve Open... the Only human to ever fly a Pod Racer... right here baby! Luke looks down the shaft. Takes a step towards it. Darth Vader: I was wrong... You're not my kid... I don't know whose you are, but you sure ain't mine. Luke takes a step off the platform, hesitates, then plunges down the shaft. Darth Vader looks down after him. Darth Vader: And get a haircut! |

Thanks for the input!
I'm sure, now-a-days, this happens more and more.
This type of news actually helps me realize that "my vow", taken in late '69, is being fullfilled.
That "vow" to myself was that those who serve would not bwe treated like we were.
SALUTE
PS Hope all is well on the home front.

Kind of funny, isn't it, Tonk? I heard stories like this from the WWII era, saw them in old newsreels too.
Funny how they're not being mentioned anywhere now. Lord knows, they SHOULD be.
I guess the TV folks have no time to spare whilst fawning over such patriots as Mr. and Mrs. Sarandon, BS, Mike "The Frog" Moore, etc...

My fat cat is telling me it's time for bed; soooooooo:
Good night, all!
May God bless all who come to the Canteen.
May God bless & keep safe all our troops & their famlies!
Dear Lord, There's a young man far from home, called to serve his nation in time of war; sent to defend our freedom on some distant foreign shore.
We pray You keep him safe, we pray You keep him strong, we pray You send him safely home ... for he's been away so long.
There's a young woman far from home, serving her nation with pride. Her step is strong, her step is sure, there is courage in every stride.
We pray You keep her safe, we pray You keep her strong, we pray You send her safely home ... for she's been away too long.
Bless those who await their safe return. Bless those who mourn the lost. Bless those who serve this country well, no matter what the cost.
God, Bless America! |

Hi, Diva! No new races yet, still at only four "kills"! At this rate I'll NEVER make "ACE" before deployment.
The ConteSSa has never been better, however...she recently got a brand-new SLP Engineering High-performance airbox, replacing the stock air inlet box. The gain was ten horsepower, which is huge when you consider that it's coming on top of a previous 340! La ConteSSa now gets OVER one horsepower per cubic inch, and runs like it, too!

BTW, folks, feel free to send or post that story above to whomever you like. I'm sure there are plenty of decent, nice people out there doing similar things, and I'd really like it if they knew how nice we thought it was, and how great it makes us feel.
