SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks missed their first free throw and made their final 49. Yep, 49 in a row.
That superb free throw shooting - along with a few defensive gimmicks from Don Nelson's book of tricks - was how the Mavericks pulled off a stunning comeback and beat the San Antonio Spurs 113-110 Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

I can't find anything on the web that shows the all-time team record for consecutive made free throws...

I watched the game in the first half. I thought the game was over by then. So this is really a surprise for me.
What can I say.....WOW!
To: Mister Magoo
Apparently, the "record" for consecutive freethrows made is
5,221

Whatta game! Nowitzki goes off for 38 points and 15 rebounds; Duncan hits for 40 points and 15 boards while shooting 14 for 20 from the floor. Now that the L.A Fakers are gone, we're seeing some really entertaining games. I'd make appointments to watch a Dallas-New Jersey finals. Two of the three deepest (along with Sacramento) teams in the league.

Thanks. Now go back and verify that the Mavs set an NBA record.

NCAA individual record is
85

I don't care who the team is, you don't "fake" 3 consecutive World Championships.
To: Mister Magoo
They did say at the end of the game that it was a playoff record. Put up a graphic showing other teams had shot 30-35 in a playoff game etc. Was going to say this record should stand a while but then thought of what a great free throw shooting team they are ... they could break it.
Dallas shot 50 and SA 48 so the whistles were pretty evenly distributed.

What a great game! No one commented on it during the postgame discussions, but Shawn Bradley shut Duncan down in the second half.

Three teams have shot 100% of their free throws. One team hit 28 of 28, and the record for fouls is 106 in a four overtime game. I'm still trying to see if anyone has ever made more free throws in a regulation game.
From the DMN ...
The last team to shoot 100 percent from the foul line in a playoff game was Philadelphia against Toronto in 2001. ... The record for fouls in a game is 106 by Syracuse and Boston in a four-overtime game in 1953.

L.A. Fakers. L.A. Fakers. L.A. Fakers.
The best part of the offseason will be watching Shaquille "All this basketball is really interfering with my rap and movie acreer" O'Neal and Kobe "The Universe revolves around me me me!!!' Bryant make excuses about losing.

Geez, at this rate it will be July before it's over. Another good reason I don't watch pro-basketball.

Individual playoff records for free throws:
Most free throws made, none missed, game
18 - Karl Malone, Utah at L.A. Lakers, May 10, 1997
Most free throws made, game
30 - Bob Cousy, Boston vs. Syracuse, March 21, 1953 (4 OT)
Most free throws made, one half
19 - Magic Johnson, L.A. Lakers vs. Golden State, May 8, 1991
Karl Malone, Utah at Portland, May 9, 1991
Charles Barkley, Phoenix vs. Seattle, June 5, 1993
Most free throws made, one quarter
13 - Michael Jordan, Chicago vs. Detroit, May 21, 1991
Most free-throw attempts, game
32 - Bob Cousy, Boston vs. Syracuse, March 21, 1953 (4 OT)
Most free-throw attempts, one half
21 - Magic Johnson, L.A. Lakers vs. Golden State, May 8, 1991
Most free-throw attempts, one quarter
14 - Michael Jordan, Chicago vs. Detroit, May 21, 1991
It looks like Dirk came close to tying the record for free throws by an individual, but Malone's record is still intact.
