Psyop: The Love’s Not Mutual

The U.S. military is using Metallica and the ‘Barney’ theme song as instruments of coercion in Iraq

NEWSWEEK

May 26 issue — Your parents aren’t the only ones who hate your music—some Iraqis hate it, too. U.S. military units have been breaking Saddam supporters with long sessions in which they’re forced to listen to heavy-metal and children’s songs. “Trust me, it works,” says one U.S. operative.

Mickey was an 80's song, if you're referring to the song that went, "O Mickey you so fine, you so fine you blow my mind, hey Mickey! Hey Mickey!" That's an 80's song.

But really, any music torturer worth his (or her) salt knows that the weapon varies with the victim.

For some people, nothing works better than a twangy George Jones tune to get whatever you want out of them.

"Step right up, come on in,
If you'd LIIIKE to TAAAAAAAAKE the Grand Tour,
Of a lonely house, that once was Home Sweet Home..."

"...if you'll look, you'll see the nursery,
Oh, she left me without mercy!
Taking nothing, but our baby and my Heaaaaarrrrrrrrt!"

My mom told me that when I was about two years old, I treated my family to a four hour rendition of "Here we go loopty-loo...Here we go loopty-yi" on a road trip. No idea where that song originated. That's the only two lines in the song, BTW.

If they really want to break them and fast they should try "It's a Small World". Probably the worst song ever written or sung.

No disrespect to the man in black!

How about TV theme songs from the 60's? "Gilligan's Island", "The Beverley Hillbillies", and if that don't break 'em, "Green Acres" will do the trick.

Force them to watch Mr. Rodgers all day and plaster the walls with pictures of Helen Thomas. Well, they may find Helen Thomas attractive, so maybe not that one. Playing "Feelings" over and over would also have them ready to commit suicide.
