Without mentioning George W. Bush, (Donahue) said only Congress can declare war and not the president. He said basic liberties are being undermined......by a "trend toward to the sword rather than a trend toward civility." Civility? Where does this numbskull live? On the moon?
Never has our culture been as uncvil as it has since the rise of unfettered liberalism.
This is exemplified by the The NY Times' corruption scandal. The Times experience is a blaring social commentary about our culture and the moral relativity liberals have inflicted on us.
We are reaping the liberal whirlwind via the complete breakdown of civility and law, the enormity of the magnitude of crimes being committed, and the absence of any kind of moral restraint and personal responsibility (as Jayson Blair demonstrated).
The liberal mantra, "If it feels good, do it," was never more obvious than in the Blair case.
Liberal's political correctness atrocity is also to blame and goes hand in hand with liberals' sicko moral relativity.
America and our future as a stable society is at stake here. Liberals are cultural zeros and all of their inane policies have corrupted the culture to an abysmal low.
As epitomized by the conniving Clintons - liberal corruption is so endemic, it is tantamount to sedition

Whats wrong with the admin at NCState? Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for a speaker - this worn out over the hill loser was washed up 20 years ago... Sheesh.

A graduation is a place to offer advice and wisdom for graduates concerning their future. It is really poor taste to use it as a bully pulput for political issues.

How completely embarassing.
I have always lived with the heartbreak of knowing that PD and I went to the same school (ND).
But now I find out we lived in the same dorm! (St. Ed's)
Thank God the place burned down and had to be rebuilt in the interim.

"They had achieved four years working for this moment, and he (Donahue) used it to get back in the spotlight, and this wasn't a time for his spotlight. It was their time to shine" Exactly Liz. The kids who studied at all hours of the night, sweated exams, and worked their tails off to get a degree had their moment of triumph hijacked by a bitter liberal who has made a career of carping at others and complaining.
Pathetic.

"Take a liberal to lunch," he said. "Take a Dixie Chick to lunch."
Out-to-lunch bump.

"Donahue's speech was peppered with his political opinions. It was met with boos that rained down like confetti. A few students walked out of the ceremony at the RBC Center. Some yelled at Donahue to "get off the stage."
It sounds like SOME college students get it.
There is still hope for our future.

The protestors at NC State should have went out and cranked
up the John Deere tractors they drove to graduation and drowned out Donahue's speech.

...this worn out over the hill loser was washed up 20 years ago... If a liberal media flack lives long enough, he will automatically be promoted by that same media to "Elder Statesman" status.

"I came looking for liberals," he said, Well, that's a great reason to be a graduation keynote speaker (not).

Compare that to Clarence Thomas's commencement speech, which sought to uplift and encourage graduates:
"The country is "suffering in a culture of victimization" that is "saturated by complaining and protest," he said.
"You cannot be a victim and a hero simultaneously," he declared. "Be able to honestly say, 'I did my best to be my best.' If you can do that, somewhere you'll be a hero to someone."

I'm just gratified he got the boos he so richly deserved. I was afraid no one would have had the nerve to do it. "Take a Dixie Chick to lunch", indeed! Only if they are part of the menu.

"what liberals believe" 1. businesses create oppression and government creates opportunity.
2. a public school teacher who can't teach fourth-graders how to read is qualified to teach them about sex.
3. gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
4. self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
5. the NRA is bad, because it stands up for certain parts of the Constitution; the ACLU is good, because it stands up for certain parts of the Constitution.
6. the AIDS virus is spread by lack of funding.
7. standardized tests are racist; racial quotas and affirmative action are not.
8. conservatives are racists; but everybody knows that black people can't make it on their own without government help.
