Saturday, May 17th a group of Texas FReepers and family drove
across the state to New Braunfels to attend the Springfield Break
day at the Dietz Gun Range.
The weather was beautiful and we could not have had a better setting
in the Texas hill country for supporting our second ammendment rights
and enjoying the shooting. Those in attendance were:
Bigun, Texas Cowboy and his son, TheMom, RikaStrom, Stevie D 64,
PetroniDE, Eaker, humblegunner and his dad and Dix..
(As well as a couple of other folks whose names I didn't
get because I was focused more on shooting than compiling data for a thread!)
Texas Cowboy did the bulk of the planning for this event
and cooked us all a fine meal, so many thanks to him.

Thanks, HG. My kind of party. I'm with you in spirit even if I'm 2,000 miles away!

A year ago, I pulled the fingernail loose on one side of my nail just before I was shooting and I thought I would have to quit early. I found some bandages in my first aid kit and after experimenting for a while, I found out the cloth bandaids work pretty good on the trigger finger. The plastic ones work better for further protection in other areas like the web of a hand.
During the winter I use some Black "Tactical"[There's that word again]gloves and they work pretty good. Instead of being fingerless, they actually have an added pad for the trigger. I don't wear anything on my hands during the summer but I suppose I should when I start practicing again. I'm sure to beat my hands up since I don't have any calluses any more.
Hats are kind of important to keep other people's brass hitting around your face and head. It also protects if a piece of brass flies behind your glasses. That's happened to my son and I've seen it happen to others.

"See what we missed? Darn it........." TexasGirl, you missed TEXAS!
Yesterday was as much a part of Texas as Saturday night football.
In your mind's eye imagine rolling green hills, fluffy white clouds floating across a blue Texas sky, herds of bawling Longhorn and Brangus cows mixing with the sound of gunfire from a dozen rifles and the smell of gunpowder blending with the aroma of steaks cooking on the grill...
Ya homesick yet??
Shooter, we'll do it again, and that's a promise!
You're excused..................this time.
LOL!
To: WhyisaTexasgirlinPA
"I thought for sure you were going to serve Buffalo steaks.......;^)" Weeeell, they would have been but..............

"Anybody shooting the Springfield Armory XD pistols?" I don't think so, endeavor.
I've decided that I'm just not a pistol person.
I sold my Sig to my son yesterday.
I'll stick to long guns......lots of 'em!

Field dress a buffalo? Me? Would that mess up my manicure?
To: humblegunner
Since Im left handed the Glock felt kind of funny in my right hand, when I had to chamber a round. The pic was taken when I was just checking out the balance before I fired. Everybody knows I always pull the trigger with my big toe.
What an incredible day that was. Its going to be very hard to top this one. I was so give out last night I could hardly stir, but dont ever forget its true we should thank our lucky stars were in Texas. This day could not have happened anywhere but Texas.
The pic of Fannie Mae is legit too. Once we put those earphones on her she didnt even begin to flinch at the sound of the gunfire.

WOW!!! My wife and I were born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Florida. We visited Texas last year for the first time to pick up the newest member of our family a Newfoundland pup from a breeder in Blanco, near San Antonio. We fell in love with Texas! The people were all so NICE. Even the chef at Denny's came out to the car to see our new pup and gave her some steak-to-go free of charge. As I said...very nice folks. We liked San Antonio, but don't know what it's like politically. Liked Austin but kinda figure that area is pretty far left. Correct? My wife just loves Fort Worth. She went out there for a teacher's conference. I still haven't been there. We're both high school teachers, but my wife is close to retirement, while I'm not. We'll wait for her to retire....maybe I'd teach out there. I'm recently 46...pretty old to start a new career. Maybe we'd retire to Texas....but I'd like some feedback on the area.

...even Eeevil assault rifles... I don't know - the one in the background looks kinda like one of those 'mouse guns.' If you ever get the urge to build a full-size "Eeevil assault rifle," I can personally recommend the most "Eeevil" of them all:
FAL - "The Free World's Right Arm"
Happy shootin'! (Wish I was there! ;>)

Looks like y'all had a great time! Who was it that got the humidity lowered for the event? Somebody with GOOD connections. I wasn't able to make Springfield Break, but I did take advantage of the good weather by sipping a couple of 'ritas on the patio of Chapultapec (sp?) after the show at Hobby Center.
I particularly love seeing Dix looking so good and the picture of Fannie Mae in the earphones is priceless!

Upon the third time that I ordered El Roy to cook my steak rare, he handed me a plastic knife, pointed at one of the cows and said, "Go git it, looks rare to me!!"
The vittles were great!!!
