To support our troops is to support warfare
Cape Cod Times ^ | May 18, 2003 | BEATRICE JOHNSON

Posted on 05/18/2003 6:49:46 AM PDT by Leisler

In your April 27 editorial you say "wearing a yellow ribbon is not a political statement in support of warfare" but rather "a reminder that we may know someone in the service who is sacrificing his or her life for our freedom" - a major contradiction! If you favor "supporting the troops" when they are engaged in warfare, you support warfare. It's that simple. Those poor souls who die in combat are sacrificing their lives because they bought the story that killing the "enemy" (whomever the "leader" chooses to call "enemy") keeps you free. What is "freedom"? If freedom implies safety, the massacres have failed. We're now at a much greater risk of counterattack and inside terrorism than ever before. If freedom implies peace of mind, military might has failed. Sadness, depression, anger and violence are at all-time highs. If freedom implies the manifestation of a civil society, military might is a complete failure. I grieve for our attacking soldiers who die or are hurt, I grieve for their families, I grieve for the poisoned land and water systems, I grieve for the mass murder of animals and I grieve for all my brothers, sisters and children of the countries we invade.

A nice little look at one of the creatures of the left in America. The I am more sensitive, concered than you type. Notice the victimization of men with "poor souls" and "they bought the story."

Lastly she closes with a "I grive" list. She left out the environment.

I pay taxes...I support warfare....I support our troops....
GO GET Em Boyze
Kill every terrorist with a vengance...
The state has every right to avenge an attack on sovereign US soil.....and by extension so do its troops...
For every terrorist killed over there is one less that will be able to kill here at home

Now the soldiers are the victims, misled and too stupid to make an informed choice whether to fight or not fight. Psycho liberals playing emotion games....

No , unfortunately she mentioned the environment too, someone call PETA we're mass murdering animals and people, I'm sure she is "deeply saddened", she should "get a life", learn something, how sad to have to carry the "burdens" of the world on HER shoulders, ugh.

I guess that I am of the "so-called" misguied souls! If I had not been medically retired, I would have been over there!
If this person is greiving then let her go over there to the mid east to fix everything with her emotions. Then see how soon till she is screaming for the Marines to come rescue her and the rest of her kind!

Maybe instead of grieving over all of the usual gang of suspect leftist causes, she should go live with her "brothers and sisters" in one of those third world swill pots. In fact, I suggest that she put her body where her mouth is and go prone in between an Israeli bulldozer and a Palestinian mud hut to be dozed like that silly little twit from Washington State who chose that precise way to go room temperature a few weeks ago.

What is "freedom"?

Why do all lefties have such a difficult time with this?

If freedom implies safety, the massacres have failed.

Is it because tyranny always trumps freedom, as long as the tyrant promises not to let them skin their little knees on the scary hike through life?

I'm surprised the Cape Cod Times didn't put this on the front page, above the fold.

I figure if some of us didn't support war, we'd all be speaking German or Japanese or horror of horrors, with Southern accents.

Sad isn't it, to her freedom is safety, peace of mind,
a "civil" society.

I grieve for her idiocy.

[D]epression, anger and violence are at all-time highs.

Well, yeah, among Democrats and others blinded by partisianship, which would mean it's endemic on Cape Cod and in Paris. Most of the rest of the World is doing OK.
