Of course that possible. I was simply stating that this particular truck didn't pass from Mexico to the U.S. unfettered as you and other FREEPers implied it did.

Actually you don't know that, as the investigation is on-going. This is what the suspect has alleged. This investigation is not over.

Practically every independent convenience store / gas station is owned by a Middle Easterner. Besides the opportunity of lighting up the underground tanks at the station, it would not be difficult to grab the truck and make a suicide run....

Here's a thought someone said to me: What if they just let them run dry and left town? What if they tarred the lids shut?

No kidding its creepy, and I live several hundred miles north of where the explosives were stolen.I think I may go into work and remove the keyes from about 15 of our trucks for security reasons that are in our plant yard.

But here is my two cents, I drive a concrete mixer, it can carry 12 cubic yards or roughly 48,000lbs. of aggregate.

Imagine if it was ammonium nitrate/ diesel fuel or Amfuel?
It would be 8 times stronger that the OK city blast. And its not unusual to see a transit mixer almost anywhere, I know cause its what I do for a living.

But realistically the terrorists would most likely use something totally obscure, like a sewage truck, linen service, roach coach, fire engine or school busses.

I got to thinking, if there is a credible threat about suicide/homicide bombers using trucks then ALL trucks larger than 1 ton should go through the truck scales and inspection stations, have bomb sniffing equipment or dogs, X-ray or sonic scanners available. Keep all truck scales open 24/7, have equipment available to any Highway Patrol or Trooper than can disable a big rig, if its not already made make a "magnum" tire puncture device like foot long sections of 3" diameter PVC round pipe connected by 1/4" nylon rope, in these tubes are hardened hollow steel tubes at least 3" long that can penetrate the heavy 12 ply treads. The bundle can be quickly tossed out in the roadway in front of a truck. Have in urban areas a fast moving heavy assault vehicle that can go 1-1 to disable a truck or knock it off the road. Require a more increased security check on rental trucks, perform background checks on the OWNERS of rental companies. That in itself has me greatly concerned that most Ryder rental offices are managed by people of middle east background.

Stopping a big rig is hard to do but if both steering tires are shot out that seriously degrades the speed, otherwise best best is to puncture the air reservoirs or cut the air lines, without air pressure its almost impossible to move the truck unless a person goes to each air brake can and manually cages the massive spring that applies the brake without air pressure. Without air pressure the spring brakes automatically apply unless the truck has hydraulic brakes.

All these can be brought in as easily as all the hundreds of illegals discovered in just the past few days alone. A bunch in Alamogordo ---close to 100 the same day as another truck load in the same area where those 92 were found, plus they busted another safe-house in El Paso eith dozens of illegals just waiting for their ride. That border is about as open as it can be.
