'Mass grave of Kuwaiti PoWs found in Iraq'
A mass grave of about 600 missing Kuwaiti prisoners of war has reportedly been discovered in Iraq.
It is believed the prisoners were taken from Kuwait during the first Gulf War in 1991.
Workers from the Iraqi National Congress say they made the grim find at an airbase in the town of Habbaniyah, north-west of Baghdad.
The Congress members were exiles opposed to Saddam Hussein, but have now returned to Iraq to help restore normality to the country.
INC workers say they uncovered the grave after tip-offs from locals that 600 Kuwaiti PoWs were buried there.
The INC operations centre in Baghdad said its officials have conducted initial tests at the excavation site, and 40 bodies have already been recovered.
Dr Ahmed Chalabi, leader of the INC, said: "We extend our deepest sympathies to the Kuwaiti people and hope it will now be possible to have a final accounting of their loved ones.
"This grim discovery, together with the mass grave sites being found across the country in cities like Hilla, reveal to the world the scope of the brutality of Saddam's regime, and his crimes against humanity.
"The world must act now to assist the Iraqi people with proper forensic experts and documentation specialists, so that the full extent of Saddam's crimes can be uncovered.
"Those who supported this regime are now witnessing the monster that they enabled."

Hasn't Chalabi heard? - not a single shred of evidence (tm) of WMD in Iraq! Move along, nothing to see here, this was a completely unjustified and illegal war for oil! Halliburton! Health Care Now! Jobs, Jobs, Jobs... Blekh!
I'm still holding a little hope to find Speicher alive.
May God rest the souls of these innocent Kuwaitis

Hans Blix & Co., should be put in charge of the exhumations.

Wonder what amnesty international and human rights groups will say about the murder of POWs.Absolutely Nothing. Republicans weren't in charge when this atrocity occured.

Someone ping me if they ever see/hear/read of one single mention by one single leftist/liberal/socialist/communist in this country or abroad who acknowledges that America, Britain, Australia, Poland, Spain and the other allies, ended a hell on earth for the Iraqi people.
My great hope is that someone working for President Bush understand the vital necessity of having the Iraqi Freedom coalition members gather together and have a huge press conference, detailing the atrocities that have been uncovered and continue to be uncovered. If they do not do this, THEY ARE TOTALLY MISSING AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE THE HEINOUSNESS OF THIS REGIME. We here at FR know what has been uncovered. But most of the world does not. Most Americans do not.
Please, to the Bush administration lurkers, please find a way to get these atrocities detailed, compiled, and presented to the world. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE UN, THE OTHER NATIONS OF THE WORLD, OR ANYONE ELSE TO DO THIS!!!! WE MUST DO IT WITH THE HELP OF THE FREED IRAQI'S!!!

One hopes that after Amnesty International concludes which Saudi POWs (in Iraq) were deprived of their blankies, they'll hop right on top of this.

Wonder what amnesty international and human rights groups will say about the murder of POWs. They will say it never happened, that it is all a fabrication.

I too hope for Scott Speicher. I am convinced he was held for many years after reading parts of a book on the subject.
France, Russia, Germany and the Democrats are all complicit in the crimes.

"Hasn't Chalabi heard? - not a single shred of evidence (tm) of WMD in Iraq!" And yet there is now, literally TONS of evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity. And crimes against humanity was plenty of justification for the Clinton crowd to go to war in Kosovo.

As the mass graves in Iraq are opened, the US media does it's best to bury the news, thus they become accomplices in the crime.

Amen.
At this point, I don't care if we never find WMD proof that the (left) world is calling for. Mobile labs scrubbed with anti-virals & germicides are enough for me. Saddam was a monster and his evils may have surpassed Hitler, as he wanted to emulate Stalin.

We are lucky to see that the fate of these brave soldiers was not the fate of our very own bravest. May their families now live in peace and their remains have quite rest and proper military burial.

I only caught part of it. Brian Lamb was talking to him by phone..one question was why he saw so many conspiracies...he found something in a picture of the JFK assasination. He was dicussing his "what really happened" site.I think that's the name.I think he's mainly a self promoter and doubt he breathes a sincere breath.

We can't rid the world of all evil regimes but we got rid of one. With patience and determination, we can get rid of them all. We neutered the Soviet Bloc, which was way scarier in its day than these penny-ante third world pest holes. We'll push Syria and Saudia Arabia and Iran into shape. They see now that they can make it easy, or they can make it hard, but one way or another it will happen. The big nut to crack will be China and North Korea, which I see as two sides of the same coin. But after that, who is left to challenge us?
I'm not implying that we need to make every other country into an American state. But we can and should use our power to ensure that everyone in the world has at least basic liberties and a representative form of government. Beyond that, they may hate us, but if they leave us alone, so what?
This is our destiny and we should rise to it. Generations to come will thank us.
