Someone leaked the Constitution.

In the spring of 1787, James Madison and other delegates attending the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia swore an oath of secrecy, pledging not to immediately divulge the contents of the new framework for the young nation.

"The Montpelier exhibit, called "This Just In," also features a Feb. 12, 1798 letter from George Washington to a nephew. In the letter, Klos said, the cash-strapped former president writes about a plan to lease some of his land holdings and destroy a grove of walnut trees."

Many people don't understand how much the Founding Fathers sacrificed for their country. Many of them ended up poorer than they had started due to neglect of their own finances during the struggle with Independence and forming a new Republic.
