A new Roper poll shows that 3 out of 4 Americans oppose allowing financial corporations to open bank accounts in the United States for foreign nationals illegally in the country. Nevertheless, Bush Administration officials, like U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, are coordinating efforts between the Mexican government and the U.S. banking industry to step up the practice.
Ms. Marin, who "entered" the United States from Mexico when she was a teenager, recently returned from a trip to Mexico City where she met with Mexican officials to negotiate policies favorable to Mexicans. As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle, Marin was attempting to "drum up support for a Partnership for Prosperity program meant to tear down logistical and financial barriers that make it difficult for Mexicans working in the United States to send money home."
Critics say this is just another example of the Bush Administration's support for illegal immigration, but note that the Treasury Department, under Ms. Marin, has been particularly aggressive in encouraging illegal aliens to remain in the United States.
Recently, for example, the Treasury granted $1.3 million to an ethnically focused financial institution in North Carolina to help it open more branches. According to the Wall Street Journal, the business openly caters to illegal aliens and provides them banking services.
Treasury officials have begun trying to sell the effort to help illegal aliens send money out of the country as "pro-security," arguing that the law enforcement community can better track illegal alien money if it's in a bank.
However, the effort is not backed by Homeland Security; it is backed by banks, which have a clear profit motive, and by the Mexican government, which seeks an incremental amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States.
The Bush Administration should rebuff the big corporations and Mexico. The American government has a duty to enforce American laws, rather than encourage foreign nationals to break them.

+== TAKE POSITIVE ACTION ==+
The first border death of the approaching summer season has now been reported, and, if this year is like previous ones, we can expect hundreds more of these tragedies before autumn.
Those who provide the magnets in the United States that lure illegal aliens across our dangerous borders carry some responsibility for the deaths. The Bush Administration, for example, rather than implement a firm and humane interior enforcement policy, which would largely end the border deaths, continues to put ethnic politics and corporate profiteering above the law and the will of the American people.
While the White House might get some political mileage out of allowing Rosario Marin, who, the White House often notes, is the "highest serving Latina" in the administration, to serve as U.S. Treasurer, selfish political advantages cannot take precedent over the public good. With three-quarters of all Americans opposing bank accounts for illegal aliens, the White House must reign in the Treasury Department no matter how ethnically dedicated Ms. Marin is to "her people," and no matter how much money banking corporations are making off illegal alien bank accounts.
Please call the White House comment line and say, "I am very disappointed by the Bush Administration's continued support for illegal immigration. Please tell George Bush I want the Treasury Department to stop pushing for bank accounts for illegal aliens."

I wanted to let you know that I have taken your suggestion to call the White House comment line twice this week. Both operators told me that they are familiar with the issue (and agreed with our stance!) and seemed encouraged about my call.
Thank you,

Stand up in their face and ask him to spell his name for you correctly ... because you want to be absolutely sure you get it right when you expose HIM in the local Letters to the Editor, and before any other media who will surely show up on the sidewalk in front of his business to read your placards.
It shouldn't be too hard to find a few other patriotic America-Lovers to join you for an hour or so of FReeping and flag-waving, and to stand up for the AMERICA we love and can still remember.
Three out of four Americans should shut their traps and vote GOP!

I disagree.
The forfeited assets should be paid as bounty to those apprehending Illegals.
We have absolutely got to stand up and take them on, along with their liberal/bureaucRAT/welfare PROMOTERS. We've got to be willing to go to WAR, take them on HEAD ON .... NOW ... if we ever hope to look ourselves and our children in the eye 10 years from now. Because by then without dramatic action taken NOW, we won't recognize the America that'll be left.
And we will only have ourselves to blame.
Thanks for your ACTION.
Where are you? Back in a few hrs.
___________________________________________________________ Can I be truthful here?
Have you ever been to a major city in the southwest? Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, San Bernardino, Dallas, San Antonio etc etc?
Have you seen the crime close up created by illegal aliens? The drunk driving carnage? The murders? The rapes? Robberies? The never ending fraud and theft?
Have you stood at Broadway and Olympic in Sprawling Los Angeles and looked at the hundreds of thousands of illegals that have turned that once great city into a nightmare of crime, fraud, drugs, cheap tacky stores that are commonly seen in cities like Tijuana?
Ever walked down the big city, anywhere in the southwest United States, and looked at any given intersection, where you will see literally thousands of poor, uneducated illegals pushing multiple baby carriages, surrounded by crowds of other small children. While most all of the women that are pushing baby carriages appear to pregnant? This is on every single corner of almost every single intersection and bus stop. Are they all here to work?
Areas of once nice homes and neighborhoods now filled with 20 or 30 people involved in every criminal act known to man? So bad that every good neighbor, regardless of race has fled.
Ever seen the organized gangs made up of illegal aliens that prey upon the innocent Hispanics, women and children, or anyone else that crosses their path? Brutal people that don't give a damn about you. People that aren't afraid of your laws or your jails....
Do you honestly think these *millions* of illegals are all here to bus dishes and mow lawns?
Do you really think these people are not choking off our limited social services that were met for American citizens. The social strain caused by this is epic.
Have you ever conducted a criminal fraud investigation involving illegal aliens that make a living counterfeiting anything of value, producing fraudulent ID, SSNs, dealing drugs, prostitution, theft, robbery, and realized that's it's so out of control, so deep, so wide spread, that some people in the business have just fled, realizing this is borderline uncontrollable and down right frightening to even a seasoned investigator?
And finally, do you not think that the illegals that actually want to work are not taking jobs from Americans? Driving down the wages? Driving up our taxes?
Go take a look for yourself. Go alone. Spend a week. Take a hard look.
It seems to me that the GOP is in a contest with the Dems to see who can appease the hispanics the most.
While George Bush has done an outstanding job dealing with out external security, he is worthless with respect to protecting our borders. It's not only the GOP at the federal level, our state GOP does it as well. Washington state is now one of five or six states to grant in-state tuition rates to illegals--even though we are supposedly in a fiscal crisis. This came about in part due to the state Republican legislators.
I don't know what the answer is or what effective form of action that we could potentially take. However, if Jorge Bush want to turn us into a third-world ____-hole, I am going to be sitting on my hands during the next election
STEIN REPORT XXXXX Tuesday, April 01 2003 10:20:30 ET XXXXX PRO-IMMIGRATION PROF. WISHES FOR 'MILLION MOGADISHUS' According to National Review Online, "Last Wednesday, Columbia University assistant professor Nicholas DeGenova told the audience at a faculty-led antiwar teach-in that he wished 'for a million Mogadishus' to visit U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq." According to the Columbia University biography of DeGenova, his teaching focuses on "transnational urban conjunctural spaces that link the U.S. and Latin America as a standpoint of critique from which to interrogate U.S. nationalism, political economy, racialized citizenship, and immigration law." DeGenova has appeared at several open-borders conferences as a panelist and his writing has been highly critical of immigration enforcement. He is also scheduled to speak at a Brecht Forum event April 3. The discussion, titled "The New Internments" focuses on detention of illegal aliens under the NSEERS program. The Brecht Forum says, "In the hysteria that the Bush administration has continued to foment for over a year in its push for the continued militarization of the globe, a gutted constitution, and a ghoulish vision of endless war, immigrants in the U.S. have been disappeared and deported at alarming rates."
Did Marin enter this contry legally in 1984?
None of the considerable number of biographies avaliable on the net discuss this detail of her arrival in Los Angeles.
