Political tidbits and other shenanigans from around the nation's capital.

The president of the American Life League is praising the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Bishop Paul Loverde and his "faithful priests" for standing up to an outspoken U.S. representative who thinks "it's possible to be pro-abortion and remain in good standing with the Catholic Church."

U.S.. IS POOR WITNESS TO THE WORLD ON HUMAN DIGNITY

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM CAP: A nation cannot systematically kill its unborn children and then witness to the world about human dignity.

To the degree that Americans tolerate and even encourage abortion, euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide, we contradict our own founding principles as a people. These acts of violence-"legal" or not-are
direct attacks on the sanctity of the human person, direct and grievous violations of human dignity.

No Catholic can willingly collaborate in them without turning away from his or her faith and undermining any personal claim to discipleship.

If we're disciples of Jesus Christ, we need to act like it. If we don't, we're not. Every abortion kills an innocent life.

No disciple can have any willing part in such violence. And wherever abortion is part of the culture, part of the law, we have the duty to work to change it through personal involvement in the public debate, and by holding our elected officials accountable not only at election time, but throughout the year.

This man gives the stereotype of "hot headed" Irishmen a bad name. He simply doesn't have his timing right when delivering his punches. That must be insulting to the Irish, to have to endure a guy who doesn't know how to time his punches.

Moran was trying to make Mass into a political event and got it handed back to him.

Moran has proven himself anti-Catholic, as well as anti-Jewish. He's a disgrace.

In a related story: Congressman Moran has been determined to hate Jews enough to qualify for french citizenship.

......it is unethical and possibly illegal for Father Belli to attack the Democratic Party from the pulpit.

THIS is what the DEMONcrats REALLY want....for religious people NOT to be able to talk about morals in CHURCH!!! Funny they took the pro-LIFE stance as ANTI-DEMOCRAT PARTY!!! The truth hurts!!

That he's Irish and hotheaded is not an embarrassment. That he is and is anything less than committed to life is. That he puts the party ahead of the faith is an embarrassment. That he would consider (not think) that a homily in perfect harmony with the church to be an attack on a political party.

And plain and simply, that the man claims to be Catholic and doesn't know the faith well enough to see the folly of what he did is an embarrassment.

Roll Call newspaper reported that Mr. Moran asked that Mr. Euille be recognized during the Mass, a request that the parish rebuffed.

With the three politicians seated before him, the Rev. Bryan Belli delivered the sermon, part of which touched on pro-life issues and Catholic politicians who ignore church teachings. Mr. Moran's spokesman, Dan Drummond, was quoted in Roll Call as saying that it is unethical and possibly illegal for Father Belli to attack the Democratic Party from the pulpit.

After the 9 a.m. Mass, according to the newspaper, a "red-faced" Mr. Moran exchanged heated words with the Rev. Michael Dobbins, with Mr. Moran "screaming and pointing his finger at him."

"How can you reconcile yourself as a Catholic with your views on abortion?" the priest is reported to have asked Mr. Moran, who is said to have shot back, "You priests don't know anything about abortion."

"Congressman, put away the talking points. Talk to me as your priest," Father Dobbins told his parishioner. Mr. Moran is reported to have replied that there was "not enough time" and walked off but not before hearing the priest say: "Congressman, one day you will need me, and I will be here."

Thank God for men like Father Dobbins.

You have exposed it! Moran wished to politicize attending Mass, but the representative of God was to be prohibited from speaking out for the little ones God loves. It is typical of a politician to seek this manipulative crap, and especially typical of a godless democrat to do it. I notice the politician is also using that other DNC tactic, lying, sending his spokesperson to forward the spin control lie that the congresscritter wasn't angry, didn't flare, and was calm and collected! The only times Moran is calm and collected is when he's asleep, in a coma, or drunk. He's a typical lying, two-faced, social engineering democrat who doesn't fear God, if he even believes there is a God other than the clinton family and their spinmeisters.

Thank the Lord for Priests who still honor their vows and speak out for those being led to the slaughter (and that applies to the deceived Moran, not juts the little ones to be slaughtered because Moran hasn't the soul left to see the truth of indefensible that he defends).

Mr. Moran's spokesman, Dan Drummond, was quoted in Roll Call as saying that it is unethical and possibly illegal for Father Belli to attack the Democratic Party from the pulpit.

Then he'd better be honest enough to first go after Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the other race pimps in the (so-called) civil rights movement (really a liberal rights movement) who routinely preach poltics from the pulpit and use churches for political functions. Besides that, Mr. Moran's spokesman, Dan Drummond, is an idiot and is speaking for an idiot. Because the priest's admonition was for all pro-abortion poltical leaders, not just 'Rats, although the 'Rat party seems to be the spiritual base of most of them. There are plenty of pro-death 'Pubs who will have to answer for their sin of supporting such a bloody and brutal practice.

"Congressman, put away the talking points. Talk to me as your priest," Father Dobbins told his parishioner.

Zing! Good stuff here, Father. I sure would like to have this guy as my priest. He tells it like it is and doesn't pull any punches. Subtle? You bet. Subtle like a sledgehammer...

"The pastor is not interested in the politician's voting record but his soul. It is a credit to Bishop Loverde's leadership that his priests are confident enough to boldly proclaim the Gospel, even in the face of elected leaders who claim to have a mandate from the people for their immoral positions on abortion."

Slam! Zinger No. 2. These people really have their act together. Very well stated. Moran and the other so-called Catholic politicians who support and promote abortion will someday have to give an accounting of the life, and their Judge in those times will not be interested in their voting record, either. All the pro-abortion votes in the world won't be worth a dimpled chad.
