Why are all the National Weather Service(NOAA) radars down for 2.5 hours now?

OK, I can't find any NOAA radar that has been updated since 9:20-9:30pm central. Anyone know why? Checked a half dozen all over the country, all gave the same result.

Not the world's biggest story, but kinda weird that they are all frozen for 2.5 hours now.

Perhaps they are hoping these guys get no more warnings!

Hehe, yeah, I was up late last night and actual saw it coming on the radar. Was hoping they would get pounded by the baseball size hail. They got 3 hours of thunderstorms. Predicting that tonight they will get a plague of locust, tomorrow night snakes.

Hey - quit scaring people. You want another run on duct tape? Planet X is NOT predicted to hit the Earth. It is only going to come "pretty close" - but it will cause the poles to reverse and create large tectonic plate movements.

Yes, you're correct, didn't mean to frighten anyone. I thought the woman said it would hit, however she was debunked by a real astronomer last night on coast to coast am.
Hey, everyone, there is no Planet X except in her mind.

FWII... At http://www.wxnation.com the link to National Weather Service radar (thru Kansas City) shows data unavailable but Accuweather and Weather.com both seem to be current.

Great warriors! My favorite tribe. The odds always seemed to be in their favor.

Someone read that thread and realized that the National Weather Service was "un-Constituitonal" so the radars were all put up for sale on E-Bay. I got a good deal on unused rawindsondes...

Seriously, I have no idea. I just got a e-newsletter from DTX a few days ago which discussed the NWS upgrading to the "fourth generation weather radar," but that it was still in R&D.

FWIW, DTX's radar is "Temporarily Unavailable" at 0154.

The current WSR-88 radar data seems to be arriving at the NOAA FTP server (tgftp.nws.noaa.gov).

I'd guess the problem is with the computer that decodes the data and converts it into an image.

You may be able to get a program that converts the WSR-88 data files to an image (or you can write your own.)
