Ha-ha-ha oh man did we ever get smacked on that one. Conned big time. Punk'd like dogs. Just gotta shake your head, laugh it off. They reamed us but good, baby! Damn.
Turns out it really was all a big joke after all. The war, that is. All a big fat nasty murderous oil-licking lie, a sneaky little power-mad game with you as the sucker and the world as the pawn and BushCo as the slithery war thug, the dungeon master, the prison daddy. You really have to laugh. Because it's just so wonderfully ridiculous. In a rather disgusting, soul-draining sort of way.

Needless to say, this article was posted as pure
fact over on the
GULFWAR-2 mailing list. This list was created purely for dissemination of links to news stories about the war, but it has been COMPLETELY taken over by the angry, mean far left. We DESPERATELY need conservatives to post links to legitimate news stories and conservative commentary over there, so if you have the time, would you please consider joining the group and participating? List traffic varies from 5-20 messages/day, but it's a Yahoo group, so you can choose to subscribe to the digest version or choose to read messages only via the web site.
Best of all, list rules are that you can only post the messages without commentary. (There's a separate GULFWAR-2-DEBATE list for that.) So simply by adding balance and fairness with your links, you will both infuriate the 10 or so hard leftists that have been doing 90% of the posting, while ensuring the FIVE HUNDRED members who joined in order to receive pointers to articles from across the political spectum will actually be served. And they CANNOT harass you back.
PLEASE consider participating. All you really need to do is consider posting a link there when you find an article - news or opinion - to post here. Freepmail me if you have questions.

As I have said repeatedly:
1. I always figured he had them (jury is still out on this one);
2. I never considered him a threat, figured the only time he would use them against the US was if we gave him a reason, and backed him into a position where he couldn't win. Like, say an invasion. I was wrong here; I was surprised he did not use them, and am unsure as to why he didn't use them.
As far as the photo, I suppose you are saying we did it to liberate Iraqis....a noble gesture, but I did a careful search of my Constitution and found not one mention of Iraq, oppressed nations, oppressed peoples, liberation of other peoples, or any synonyms or cognates of the aforementioned. Noble, but NOT OUR BUSINESS.
To: Cacophonous
The photo wasn't to show how nice we are from liberating them from a man who would do this, it is an example of a WMD attack that Saddam ordered. He had WMD at one point.
He was to destroy them but repeatedly he and his men denied ever having them. Then they would claim that they already destroyed them. They would prohibit inspections (even though search warrants were presented) and had spies on the inspection team notifying him of where the next inspections would be.
Consider Saddam Hussein like a paroled felon. He was left in power after Gulf War I but there were conditions to his "release". He had to destroy some weapons and not pursue others. Even his missle technology was restricted by treaty to a limited range.
Saddam violated these treaties (breaking the "peace") and continued to stockpile weapons (and I am not talking WMD here). There are clear signs that he was trying to acquire/develop WMD. Whether he was successful in his efforts or not does not really matter, he was violating the UN treaties. He flaunted his noncompliance. Would a paroled felon be able to send officers with a search warrant away from his residence/property? would a felon be permitted to acquire illegal weapons or try to arrange for hitmen to kill for him?
The origins of this war are in 1991 but not because we didn't "get Saddam" back then. Saddam violated the peace and perpetuated the war. This is why he had to be removed from power. The choice was his.

any writer that uses the word "beeyatch" in their article should not get published by any newspaper that expects to be viewed as a credible news source.Maybe he has a crush on Snoop Dogg.

This topic always brings out the Rummy in me:
We know he had 'em. Either he hid them, or he got rid of them. Either way we will find out what happened to them.
And I don't believe for a minute that he disarmed and then lost his kingdom over refusing to provide the evidence. I will never believe that.
And Morford is queer as a three-dollar bill.

What a moron. Sadaam himself was a weapon of mass destruction. How many bodies did they find in that grave yesterday? What were those bio-labs that were found? Spend all that money just to kill off a few innocents? They were designed to kill masses! Nuclear bombs? If Hans Blix, who can't find his butt to sit on, and the UN hadn't dragged their leaden feet for so long, Sadaam wouldn't have had the time or opportunity to hide/destroy them. Get a reality check!
To: finnman69
all largely awed by the power and grace and insane fuel consumption and butt-clenching roar of the six powerful F/A-18 Hornets Squadron after squadron of these very same gorgeous roaring $28 million jets but this time not lovely shiny polished blue and not moving in entertaining smoke-trailing formations across the sky and making little boys squeal.
...killing foreign women and swarthy Islamic babies...
Can't make this sh*t up (giggle)...
