Bob Graham was always a slow thinker/talker. He recently had huge (hugh) open heart triple by-pass and a host of other heart cleanup procedures. He spent a long time under anesthesia,and he sounds more and more everyday like he is still half under. He is 66 years old,and was not alert enough to know that his heart was so bad until he tried to hold the yard marker sticks at the orange bowl game. I called his office,since I am a Floridian at the free number,and told them that there is something wrong with him. I told them he was sounding disoriented and confused. He kept calling SARS scars when he was on the talking head shows. His popularity has declined significantly in the last 4 years because everyone knows he is not a moderate.

Didn't Graham want us to go to war in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley-- which basically gives haven to hizbollah, hamas, etc.? wouldn't that have taken away from the war on al qaeda? Graham is a loser.

By the way, The Texas rats should be fined every day they don't report to work. I think the GOP could really win this thing if they put forth the idea "no work, no pay."

Why ,on Earth, should they be paid for shoddy behavior like this, you or I would be unceremoniously fired if wer hot-tailed it to OK and had the Texas Rangers after us. I think they should be fined a day's pay for every day they hold the Texas Legislature hostage. People will get behind this. The Rats in OK look terrible. I bet you they behave like ugly co-eds in that hotel. The geat thing will be when the staff at the Holiday Inn reveals the deviant behavior that they partake in. They look like criminals, and not even cool criminals, there is no Jesse James romance here. They look like ugly, midgets (my apologies to the vertically challenged). They look so small and pathetic.

The GOP has been good so far, I think the deck of cards was a nice touch. Also, the "Texans don't run from a good fight" tact is wise, i think, too. But, I'm not a Texan, so

WASHINGTON – U.S. intelligence agencies and their allies disrupted terrorist threats, including some from al-Qaeda against U.S. troops in the Persian Gulf area, during the war against Iraq, U.S. officials have told United Press International.

"There were a number of disruptions to terrorist efforts around the world over the last month or so," a U.S. intelligence official told UPI. "Rolled up is probably too precise a phrase," the official, who requested anonymity, went on. "If you think of it as someone snuffing out a burning fuse, that's not the case, but people who were planning bad things have ended up getting deported or arrested or detained."

Another government official, who also asked not to be named, confirmed the account. "Al-Qaeda plots against U.S. troops in the gulf were disrupted during the war."

Rep. Porter J. Goss, R-Fla., the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said: "I'm not going to be specific, but yes, there have been disruptions. I won't say what disruptions where, and I won't say when."

Disruption is an intelligence term of art. "It means a plan was interfered with. It didn't take place," said Vincent Cannistraro, former counter-terrorism chief for the CIA. "You don't necessarily [apprehend] everyone involved - you may not get anyone - but the people who were going to do something are not able to do it for one reason or another."

Other U.S. officials point out that this has been happening almost continuously since the Sept. 11, 2001. They stress that threats are disrupted almost every day.

Analysts concur. "Al-Qaeda members are constantly plotting against the United States," said Ben Venzke, a private sector counter-terrorism analyst who consults for U.S. government agencies. "And they are constantly having to change or abandon those plans because of the aggressive prosecution of the war on terror."
