If they don;t want to do their jobs, they should resign.
But you know, I wonder if Mass. Republicans should take a queue from them Texans.

Hi There!
I'm brand new to the list but just had to reply to this! I wonder if we could automatically replace all the dems that ran with stand by republicans? After all, if a company goes on strike, they can be replaced...LOL The dems apparently don't want the positions they hold, else they wouldn't have left them.....

It would seem to me that some arrest warrant can be constructed on some legal theory so that they will be arrested and jailed when they return to Texas...with release conditioned upon their showing up for work every day.
Texas Pubs need to hang tough on this one and look for any opportunity to stick it to the Rats....like propose and pass a resolution that docs a reps pay for days absent without an approved valid excuse. I mean, really, who would want to be against that.

Interesting thought. Wish we could!
Welcome to FR, by the way.

Don't they need a 100 for a quorum? How close are they?

For those that are in Oklahoma, isn't it a federal crime to cross state lines to avoid prosecution?

It reported the trooper approached the Dallas Democrat as she was getting into her car at her Austin apartment. She later said she had asked to be allowed to drive to the Capitol in her own car, but the trooper refused and arrested her. God cop!!!!!
I love it, she had asked to be allowed to drive to the Capitol in her own car, but the trooper refused and arrested her. "Just what is it you don't understand about 'You are under arrest!'"?

They need 5 more ...... After tomorrow it may not make a lot of difference as they have deadlines critical for passage of legislation in this session. Look for them to return on Thursday or so....
Fifty-five of the 150 lights on the House voting board remained dark Tuesday, most of them belonging to the 53 Democrats who hopped buses to Ardmore, Okla. on Sunday to break the quorum and try to kill a bill that would re-draw congressional districts to give Republicans more seats. The House has three days before a crucial deadline to consider major House bills. House Bills that don't receive final House approval by midnight Thursday are dead unless they can be resuscitated in the Senate or tacked on to other bills.

Rep. Chente Quintinalla is handed a "wanted" flier at the Holiday Inn in Ardmore, Okla. on Tuesday. The flier said "WANTED for representing the people."

From this thread:
Texas Democrat Arrested !!
Excerpt (post #136): Giddings, who had tears in her eyes, said she was headed to the Capitol in the belief she would be able to talk with Craddick when she was stopped by a trooper as she was going to her car in front of her home in Austin. She said she was driven to the Capitol by the trooper.Craddick, who sent troopers in search of missing lawmakers, said he spoke with Giddings and had written her a pass to come in, and that it was a mistake that she was picked up.

Lovely the way Democrat politicians continue to demonstrate their love and understanding of law and government. </unnecessary sarcasm tag>

The dems are saying that "it's NOT FAIR to have redistricting" So I called my Rep, Pete Laney, Tom Craddick and the comptroller to say...
It's not fair that the Texas taxpayers pay for their days off
It's not fair that the Texas taxpayers pay for their travel and hotel bills.
It's not fair that the Texas taxpayers pay for their days pay if we have to pay for a special session for the others who managed to come into their jobs when they were supposed to. AND
It's not fair that the Texas taxpayers pay for the overtime for DPS called in from their vacations to hunt them down and that they can send that bill to the DNC.

I just made calls to Villareal, Castro, McClendon and left messages. Fischer's phone would click off after two rings and give a busy signal. Got someone in Menendez's office that told me to shove it. The number for Menemdez is 512-463-0634. I started to tell the guy who answered the phone to tell Mr. Menendez if he wasn't man enough to do the job he was elected to do he should resign and the guy went ballistic and started shouting at me and accused me of calling Menendez names and then told me to shove it and hung up. That is how the democrats conduct business.

At the very least can one of you Austin Freepers buy the guy a drink after work today?
