MIAMI (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Bob Graham, one of Florida's most popular politicians, would lose his home state to President Bush if the election were held today, according to poll results published on Monday.
Voters in the important swing state -- which decided the 2000 presidential election by the slimmest of margins -- favor Bush over Graham 52 percent to 43 percent, according to a telephone poll conducted for several Florida newspapers by pollsters Schroth & Associates.
A similar poll released last week by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research gave the Republican president a 15-point lead over Graham in Florida.
Graham, a U.S. senator and former Florida governor, has not lost an election since he first ran for the state legislature in 1966 and consistently wins high approval ratings.
He would easily win the March 9 Democratic primary in Florida, taking 54 percent against his eight rivals, the Schroth poll of 600 registered voters indicated.
But the poll cast doubts on whether he could defeat the president in Florida, a key battleground state because it decided the 2000 election by a 537-vote margin and because of its diverse blend of swing voters from suburban women to seniors, Hispanics and registered independents.
Bush's brother, Jeb Bush, is the sitting governor

As a Floridian who does NOT hate Bob Graham, I can tell you that, well, I hate to get personal about it, but Graham is creepy. How he talks, and that personal diary of his, the guy is just creepy. (I guess Kerry is too, but more in a Herman Munster sort of way).

Oh Graham looks like he will be in it till the bitter end! The media keeps stressing the fact that Florida is an all important state and that Graham never lost a race! Apparently it is bigger news to the media than anyone else!

I have this ugly disgusting feeling that Bob Graham is holding on to something against Bush that he will spring on the media when it gets close to the wire. Just like the Democreeps did in 2000 with that stupid DWI incident! Probably something about 9/11 and what Bush knew!

There's another thread (I would post the link but I am technologically challenged) where the homosexuals admit that 10% of the population is not gay-the actual figure is more like 2%. I guess Dean wants to solidify his base (socialist homosexuals) before tacking to the middle. HeHeHe.

A Graham cracker (sorry, couldn't resist). Bob Graham is well known as a "good ol' boy" in Florida, and represents the political system that existed in Florida for well over a century, from before the Civil War, and for all I know, going back even to the Spanish governor. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), the state has a diminishing proportion of its citizens remaining that have ancestors who were residents of Florida, going back for generations. Many, if not most, of the people here were born elsewhere.

We all need to remember that U.S. Senator Graham voted to retain IMPEACHED sick willy on February 12, 2000.
He [Graham] wears a tie with the state of Florida on it every single day, although hes planning to drop the habit once he starts his presidential campaign. And his stump speeches can be pedantic snoozers.
Gore campaign aides still joke about a disastrous stemwinder Graham delivered at Nashvilles Wildhorse Saloon; he lost the crowd early, droned on anyway, and killed any slim chance he might have had to join the ticket. Then there are the notebooks.

Depends on how the votes are counted. Remember, this is Florida. ;)
