Noelle Bush is a drug addict who has been in and out of trouble with the law her entire adult life. If I recall correctly, she FORGED a doctor's signature in an attempt to purchase Schedule III pharmaceuticals to support her habit. [Which is not to say that I endorse the state's write to grant doctors and pharmacists a monopoly on the dispensation of pharmaceuticals, but until the next revolution, it's the system we live under.]
The twins have been in and out of trouble with the law for underaged purchase and consumption of adult beverages in state-licensed forums [restaurants with state liquor licenses]. Again, if memory serves me correctly, their purchases involved FORGED identification documents. Note as well that their crimes involved the corruption of their Secret Service escorts.
No one [and I mean NO ONE] I knew as a teenager had a forged identification document [forged driver's license, forged birth certificate, you name it]. In many jurisdictions, and in many circumstances, forgery is a FELONY [not a misdemeanor]. Yes, I knew people who drank before the legal age, but they didn't forge documents to do so. And, to the best of my knowledge, no one [and I mean NO ONE] I have known socially [either as a teenager, or as an adult] has been addicted to a Schedule III pharmaceutical.
Folks: Lauren Bush is running with the wrong crowd. Maybe, when all is said and done, she, and Noelle, and the twins will turn out to be perfectly nice, upstanding members of the community, but there are also some pretty blatant warning signs that shouldn't be ignored.
Oh....and as to those 'warning signs'.......how is it that YOU, of all people feel qualified to supercede the rights of each one of these young women's parents and make decisions about how they need to be treated and/or disciplined?
You are aware, are you not, that Noelle Bush is 25 years old, and responsible for her own behavior? She obviously has an addiction which is causing her, and her family a great deal of grief. Perhaps you should take your 'concern' and pray for her rather than condemn her entire family.
As to the Bush twins, they also have incredibly good parents who have already dealt with the situation, and the girls have had to suffer the legal consequences of their behavior.
In addition, the 'incidents' were two years ago, there have been none since, and they are now 21, and permitted to consume beer in any state they choose.
It might behoove you to find something REAL to concern yourself with, and not spend too much time in your imaginary world.
IIRC the U.S. association uses the good work of the local groups to raise money by fooling folks into thinking their donations are going to shelters and such when they're really going to an extremist group that spends almost no money on shelters,etc.
By adding U.S. to the name they are a different bunch altogether and steal the name from the good groups,IIRC.
Support the local,not the U.S. group.
I'm terribly ill today and may not be thinking straight but someone could do a search to make sure.
Unfortunately, there are too many people that don't differentiate the HSUS from the good organizations because of their success in taking over the name.

I spent at least five minutes of my life trying to come up with a response to this post and I can't think of anything that is good enough except a repost, and maybe some bold font for emphasis.
What amazes me is your decision to make a reference to THE NANNY STATE on a post discussing a public figure's possible ideology. It makes me think of how a democrat might react to a post about "The Dark Side of Camelot." Not very humorous at all, actually.

Actually, I started composing an answer yesterday, but I had to leave to do other things. Fortunately, however, I've got an even better answer today than I then would have given:
Let's see, to the best of my recollection: Saturday afternoon, I ate some ground murdered bovine [with tomato sauce, cheese & pasta, in a dish we call "lasagna"]; Sunday evening, I was served [and subsequently devoured] a strip of lightly seared murdered bovine; and yesterday evening I enjoyed murdered shrimp and murdered scallops with broiled bell peppers on a wooden stick [we call those "kabobs"] and also broiled murdered salmon beneath a red sauce. Oh, and my best guess would be that the crust of the Key Lime Pie we had for dessert was made from a substance called "Lard," which is squeezed from that most versatile of carrion, the murdered bovine carcass. So yeah, I guess I'm all for cruelty to animals, especially when I get to snack on their murdered corpses [and sundry concoctions extracted therefrom].PS: Is this your final, final reply in the matter, or should I stick around for your final, final, final reply?
