Only In America!
Second Amendment Sisters, California Chapter, along with CA Assemblywoman Sharon Runner and Senator Pete Knight, sponsored a Ladies' Handgun Seminar in Lancaster Saturday, May 10th.
There was a great turnout -- SRO for the firearms safety lesson. We all had a chance at the indoor range, got tips and techniques, took advantage of an extended Q&A, had a great lunch, and generally had a blast. Pun intended.
Pictures to be posted later. Let's do it again soon!

A great time was had by all. It was wonderful meeting FReeper Saundra Duffy, and SAS's Emily Berg, as well as the Assemblywoman and her staff, and all the great people at The Gun Shop. Everyone who attended was so nice, and the range of ages and interests was remarkable.

A wonderful type event, sounds like. Hope to see a expansion of serious gun-based training in personal defense for women - nationwide.

This is GREAT news! The "Iron Triangle" ( libs, dems and The Media ) will have a tough time demonizing this event as it was by, for, and of the ladies. Your timing was perfect, as y'all's event took place on Mother's Day weekend!
Were prizes awarded for markswomanship, and if so who were the winners?

Yep! A great freepin' time was had by all. Lainie was too humble to mention that SHE IS ONE HECK OF A GREAT SHOT! She bested me on the range.
It was a good turn-out and may I say these women are OUTSTANDING!
Assemblywoman Runner was a big hit with the media. They were all over her! She's pretty and smart and a Republican and an advocate for the 2nd Amendment.
I spoke with Runner and her staff and Emily from SAS about having a Ladies Handgun Seminar in Fresno. Looks like a go. Yahoo! Details to follow.
It was great to meet Lainie in person and one of the other ladies admitted to being a lurker on FreeRepublic.com for a long time.
Thanks again to lainie for posting this report. Maybe some pictures will follow.

Were prizes awarded for markswomanship, and if so who were the winners? They scored us and Lainie wins! I think she scored well enough to merit a CCW. Let's not talk about my score; it's just that Lainie is a remarkable shot. Go, Second Amendment Sisters!!!

Now, I told you I just got lucky! But my husband says there's no such thing as luck in good shooting. (sheepy grin)
Got some pics to share. I did not intend for this so take so long. There are more but they're dark. If I can clean them up I'll post again.
An hour for all of safety instruction. The instructor was with NRA, I believe, and seated to the right (in red) is SAS's Emily Berg.
Sharon and George Runner. She is the assemblywoman, and he is our former assemblyman. He has announced he will next run for California State Senator (term-limited Republican) Pete Knight's seat. If they're successful they'll be the first CA husband and wife to simultaneously hold seats in the assembly and senate.
Go sister!
Getting scored...
Sisters showin' their stuff! The ears and glasses make our heads look like they're squeezed into a test tube :)
A photographer took a picture of three freepers with Assemblywoman Runner. Hopefully he will send it to me in email as I requested. Check this space!

Aiming for Gun Safety
Women learn to feel at home on the shooting range
By Greg Botonis
Staff Writer
LANCASTER -- Combining gun safety with shooting practice, 30 women took aim Saturday in a class to help them feel comfortable with a firearm in the home.
Hosted by Assemblywoman Sharon Runner, R-Lancaster, and state Sen. William "Pete" Knight, R-Palmdale, the event at The Gun Shop was only the second in the state to be sponsored by the Second Amendment Sisters, a firearm advocacy group.
"At first I was a little nervous but after a while I was very comfortable," said Theresa Quintana, of Palmdale. "My husband signed me up for the course because, in case he's not around, he wants me to know how to fire it."
Runner, a novice shooter, scored well during target practice and began the paperwork to buy a handgun of her own.
The Second Amendment Sisters describes itself as "a women's advocacy group dedicated to preserving the basic human right of self-defense, and to giving attention to the vital role the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution plays in protecting that right."
The 5-year-old group hopes to host workshops all over the country within the next couple of years to educate women in how to use firearms for self-defense.
"My gun is very important to me and the safety of my family," SAS State Coordinator Emily Berg said. "We want women to stand up and say, 'Hey, I have an opinion about firearms."'

I heard a woman say she was "reporting for the A.V. Journal." I've never heard of that publication. Have you?

I didn't realize that I saved the two pictures at different pixel sizes. Just call me lil' Saundra. :) I'd be a real activist! I should be so lucky.
