It's a Byrd, S-3B Viking -- it's Taco Bell's dog

Sometimes the best political strategy is simply to stand still and allow yourself to be attacked by the wrong guy.
snip
We are witness to such a phenomenon as George Bush -- cheered, regaled and not-bad in his Top Gun duds -- finds his form-fitting aviator pants leg in the clenched teeth of Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., playing the Taco Bell Chihuahua to Bush's Rin Tin Tin.
snip
As one-two punches go, the Byrd/Waxman sally was a bad day for nerds everywhere. Performing a whiney duet of the desperate, they managed to evoke images of skinny boys studying the quarterback's swagger for clues on cool. It's almost as painful to watch them contort in envy as it must have been for them to watch Bush, a stud muffin no matter what his other flaws, arriving on a testosterone bullet to the cheers of 5,000 sailors.
Not to mention the living-room applause of an appreciative nation not nearly as perplexed as pleased by the pageantry clearly intended. Who cares if it was a photo op? It's our photo op, which the other envy-boys around the world also got to see.
snip
By attacking the right guy at the wrong time, Byrd and Waxman not only have harmed their cause, but aided the Bush ascendancy. For now the president is not only a daring jet rider, he's a victim of empty criticism. The hero-victim doesn't have to do anything but stand still -- and no doubt fight the urge to say, "Yo quiero a Waxman and Byrd."

This is one of the funniest little RAT tempests-in-teapots in recent memory! They are really peeved that they might have lost the "arousal gappers" who used to go for Clinton because of his active libido -- now they see that women are look at Bush on the carrier and think....hmmmmm....a real man and virile too!!!
This kind of thing drives the RATS nuts -- because it's robbing all that's left of their playbook!
Basically, Byrd is having a conniption fit because he's worried that the "arousal gappers" are going to think that Bush was "pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty" and they'll lose another big chunk of their voting base.

White House to Sen. Byrd- 'Do It Again, Please' (USS Lincoln Complaining)
[Excerpt from The Note]

One Democrat moaned yesterday as he watched the cable news programs replay hours of footage of President Bush on the carrier with audio about Democratic complaints.
'Im watching him get high fived and buzz the tower again,' the Democrat said. 'The White House should have thought of this controversy themselves!'
Democratic questions about Bush's jet landing made the front page of USA Today complete with the 'Fly Boy' photo that will have Mike Deaver smiling.
Along these lines, a Senior Administration Official told the ABC Political Unit 'The more time the President talks about defense and security issues, the more he hurts Democrats and reinforces the public's positive perceptions of the Presdient.'
'Do it again, do it again is our message to Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.'
The Democrats are doing things to make their base happy, but alienating the center of the electorate...

The hysterical part of all of this is that the Dims realize what an ad of the President shaking hands and posing for pictures with everyone on deck who wanted to, will be an awesome campaign ad and are now insisting that this moment in history - a tailhook landing by a sitting President - not be allowed to be used during the President's re-election campaign. What have they been smoking? Of course, it's going to be part of the advertising campaign. Look as those pictures on the May 1st edition of "A Day in the Life of President Bush" (photos) and tell me that every guy shown with his CinC isn't thrilled to be having his picture taken. That's what is making the Dims nuts. They just can't stand how popular this President is with our warrior-heroes.
They've finally stopped their ranting against the war and all they are left with is to rant against the President flying out to thank our guys for their incredible show of power. Tough it out, Dims. Your whining is really bothering your base. And every time you yell "photo op", the sequence of the President's landing gets shown again. Aren't you smart enough to let it go away?
OTOH, I love seeing the shots over and over - so keep on whining.
And OhioWfan, thanks for the ping. I just love to see the Dims imploding themselves.

When the Democrats attack Bush and call him dumb or whatever, they're really attacking the Americans who voted for Bush, Americans the Democrats hold in contempt.
And when the Democrats attack Bush for the jet ride, they are really attacking the military, whom we KNOW they loathe.

Great stuff! The whining Rats are going to eliminate the need for Bush to even run a campaign at the rate they're going.

The whining Rats are going to eliminate the need for Bush to even run a campaign at the rate they're going. Let 'em keep going.....the more they talk about it, the more there's the replay of tailhook landing, the longer it stays in the people's memories! : )

Meanwhile, a Democratic politician, overcome with jealosy at the President's tailhook landing, decided
he would put on an official-looking jumpsuit, and strap himself into a cockpit, too. Unfortunately for him, neither the results of his escapade, nor the press coverage thereof, were as satisfactory.
Ladies and gentlemen...
I give you the distinguished Governor of the great state of North Carolina...
Mike Easley:
Governor Easley, in the blue coveralls at the right of the photo, examines the damage (yup, totalled) to the stockcar he drove into a "soft wall" at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte yesterday.
We can now add "driving" to the long list of things Governor Easley isn't very good at.

Byrd and Waxman not only have harmed their causeAh, the Kleagle and the Commie.
We can only hope the media keeps a microphone and camera nearby and ready whenever they feel the urge to piss 'n moan.
