[history]
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) State auditor Gail Chase plans to tell legislators on Friday that she can't find a paper or electronic trail for $19 million the state received from the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program.
Chase, who is scheduled to appear before the Appropriations Committee, said the problem appears to have developed over five years as the Human Services Department disbursed TANF money for grants or programs for which they were not specifically authorized by the federal government.

I fear that over 90% are nothing but scams to divert the donations and our tax $'s to the pockets of the rats who control 99% of the so called NP's in our country.
These scammers/looters have endeared themselves with local rat politicians, state rat politicians and of course their rats in congress. So they have been protected from political fall out.
Then they have the left wing mediots who worry about Enron for decades and then spike any news about massive NP fraud in their areas. This is what really enables the scammer/looters to get by with "losing" 18 million $'s.

Damn... what is it with the Northeasterners , these days? I guess they're trying to show up us Westerners with their own criminal government bureaucracies. ;-)
Sounds like they need to start giving some folks a little time in the pokey. This definitely ain't chump change we're talking about.

All this crap sort of puts tax cuts in a new light. If the feral government wasn't in the business of taking your money and giving it back to state governments in huge amounts, for whatever the hell they choose to do with it, (WTHTCTDWI), we wouldn't need a tax cut because the feral government would only be taking enough to fulfill their constitutional duties. IN MY DREAMZ!

That is why we must take each tax cut as it comes and support them.
It obvious that to turn around close to 6 decades of tax and spend socialism, we need 60 senators to just say no to giving our money away. Then they slash money to these NP's and lower our taxes again.

Maine is a small state. So these millions are probably like a few billions for our looters in Kalifornia.
The rat looters are all the same from coast to coast.

''It's not that it has gone out in anyone's purse or in anyone's pocket,'' Stealing? No. Couldn't be. Grifting, grafting, skimming, pilfering, transferring, allocating, purchase and converting to cash, yes. But not stealing.

This is amazing to me. Suddenly, all these Eastern states are starting to have the catastrophic finance issues - because of misappropriated funds.
I just can't help but wonder if the election in 2004 is going to be full of surprises - especially for dem candidates.

This new "tax cut" bill that the Senate has supposedly agreed upon sends "special" money to Maine, via MZ. Snowe.
I forget the amount but in order to get her vote she got a payoff.
I heard this on one of the news casts discussing the "Senate" latest tax cut offering, but have yet to see dollar amount or what exactly MZ. Snowe demanded in order to support a "tax cut".
Anything in the local press in Maine?
Thanks

I do not know this Chase person; however, your conclusions are most likely based on ignorance!

''It's not that it has gone out in anyone's purse or in anyone's pocket,'' Chase said. ''The problem is when you can't tell, and when the department can't tell you, exactly which grants (go with) which expenditures, with which dollars.'' This is most assuredly attributable to the 'comingling' of funds which results from incompetence and not misfeasance.
BTW, are you still buying those cheap cigarettes?

I hope Bush has the guts to send in the FBI and put Chase and the rest of the garbage behind bars. One can only hope..........

I sure didn't see anything about this. Although it's going to take "an act of Congress" to get her out of her seat. Where's the term limits when we need one!

BTW, are you still buying those cheap cigarettes? Cheap? No cigarettes are cheap in Maine. Unless you roll your own, to which I do. For under $8 dollars, I roll a beautiful CARTON of cigarettes.
And PS: I'm over 21. heh!

Very interesting, no news that Mz. Snowe had to be bought off, I can't remember if it was millions or billions, maybe someone needs to call her office, or local press to find out how much it took to buy her vote.
Could it be the amount that they can't account for?
