Boondoggle, most likely. Doing stuff like this is one of the perks of being governor. Looks like it turned out badly -- I hope he's not seriously hurt.

Charlotte tv station's web site saying Easley is out of the car and is OK ... not seriously injured.

I hope he wasn't going at full speed, if it was at full speed I would have to question the judgement of this activity. Being on a race track is far more dangerous then President Bush's flight to the USS Lincoln, that drove certain liberals into a lunatic fringe.

CONCORD, N.C. -- North Carolina Governor Mike Easley was involved in accident at Lowe's Motor Speedway Friday.

But Scott Cooper, Lowe's Motor Speedway spokesperson, said Easley is out of car and doing just fine. He was even spotted smiling and talking on a cell phone after the accident.

Cooper says the governor was in town practicing for an upcoming promotional appearance at the Winston race. He is participating the race to show his support for keeping the Winston at LMS.

He was driving Rick Hendrick's #48 Chevy car when he lost control, skidded and hit one of the track's soft walls.

Cooper says the governor was going about 150 mph.

You don't suppose he was trying to one-up the President, do you?

{For those who aren't from NC, Gov. Easley is a Democrat).

Is he a repub or demo?

Since he's not injured seriously, does it matter what party his Lt. Gov. is? (Nor do these guys in SC have any upcoming Senate appointments expected ... so there's no real national impact if he cracks his head open playing games.)

Not that I wish injury on anyone but I find this hillarious! You would think Gov. Easley, being a Dem would have no problem with a constant left turn. He tried to turn right and hit a wall! HA HA!

Where is Robert "Whitey in the hood" Byrd when ya need em? Shameless posing....and all.... :)
