Dr. James Dobson founder and chair of Focus on the Family issued a statement late Wednesday in response to the Newsmax article that referenced his remarks on his Nationally syndicated radio program. (pertaining to the apparent lack of GOP backing for Senator Rick Santorum and his comments on homosexuality)
'Two weeks ago, I commented on the Focus on the Family's daily broadcast that the Republicans were displaying a lack of courage by not more aggressively defending Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) when he was critized for comments he made about homosexuality and the law.
I remain concerned about this issue, but never made any statements calling for Conservatives to boycott the Republican party.'
'In the past, I have critized both major parties and will continue to do so when party leadership embraces or tolerates policies that are harmful to the family.'
In Newsmax's original story, they cited Dr. Dobson as just one Chrisitan leader who had expressed dismay with the Republican Party.

Too bad Tancredo or Paul wouldn't run.

Every single vote counts, we learned that last time.

Too bad Tancredo or Paul wouldn't run. Guffaw. Please encourage them to - I beg you.
Of course, then everyone would see just how scattered and weak support for those guys really is, and they'll dry up and blow away in the wind.

Nader killed AlGore's run in 2000. If Dobson leads a bolt from the Republican party he'll become a new Nader, helping to elect the next Democrat.

Perhaps Dr. D figures at least the repubbies wont put him out of business if he objects to some of their policies publically...at least he wont have the FBI or IRS sicked on him...like certain other so called leaders are prone to do...

We should be giddy that both Nader and Sharpton have both indicated that they may run as independents..if that happens a 50 state sweep is within reach

Or maybe he just....oh, I don't know....has principles. Just a stab in the dark there.

Dr. D does this every so often just to keep himself on the radar screen and into current politcs

Dr. D does this every so often just to keep himself on the radar screen and into current politcs I think you're right there. And my guess is that when he said he didn't vote for Dole in 1996, he felt free to do it because it was a lost cause.

Newsmax loves to do this type of phoney writeups to make it appear that massive amounts of people are leaving the Republican party.

Nothing like a trial balloon, that comes down and wacks you on the head, to smarten a guy up eh?

Anyone know why the thread with this story was pulled? Yes, I do.
The poster was a liberal troll who posted the following to dighton:
Well, I think he's an excellent mayor of London if thats what you mean?
Obviously he's entirely right about Bush, although I think he could have gone further by mentioning the fact that he is a murdering redneck coke taking drunk driving smug arrogant retard.

Christians should have no illusion about how they are used by the Republican Party. At the bottom line, Wall Street republicanism will always trump social conservatism.

Dupe

Again, Dr. Dobson should remember that he is not privy to political strategy and should keep his mouth shut about such things.
There was a deliberate reason everyone was told to shut up - Let the single strongest voice, Mr. Bush's, come out and douse this with cold cold water.
And he did.
