[history]
I had the most astonishing thought last Thursday. After a long day of hauling the kids to playdates and ballet, I turned on the news. And there was the president, landing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, stepping out of a fighter jet in that amazing uniform, looking--how to put it?--really hot. Also presidential, of course. Not to mention credible as commander in chief. But mostly "hot," as in virile, sexy and powerful.

The voters should at least be able to read and write. The founding fathers wanted an educated electorate. The dems were bringing people off the street to vote in Florida. One poll worker in Palm Beach County said there were so many people in line that they weren't even checking to see if they were registered!
Several years ago on the radio it was said most younger women interviewed were voting on who was "cuter".

We don't need another lawyer in the White House. He has made a fortune suing people. He has given up chewing gum.

With his popularity declining is the time to watch him. He will do something, possibly drastic, to get in the limelight again.

The attributes that make Bush appealing to women is not his looks. It's his leadership, his commanding appearance (that has nothing to do with looks guys it's the way you carry yourself) and his ability to project an ability to protect. This is as old as human nature, we've just forgotten about it until 9-11.
Once again, men who are men are in fashion again. Policemen and Fireman who race into a burning building to save lives, military men who face horrendous danger to keep us safe, and a president who exemplifies all of that.
It's not his "looks" it's his masculinity. We've been starved for that for years in the public sector. We were told we should appreciate soft, effeminite, "sensitive" men and shun troglidite throwbacks. But there was a reason for masuclinity and a reason that it appeals. It's called survival.

You put it very well, you are right.

Those same 16 year olds must be the type that gave us Glendening for 8 years even thought they knew he was a "crook".

He walks with a "strange" gait because he's a westerner. Westerners walk heel to toe and easterners walk toe to heel. I found that out shortly after I went to Canada and couldn't figure out why I couldn't keep my balance walking on ice and snow (and in rainy weather). Someone finally explained it to me and I realized it was true. It's due to being raised in a place where you are more often walking on uneven surfaces.
Think about John Wayne, that's a perfect example for you.

Let them keep it up. Every time they do it they show the pictures of him on the carrier again and everyone sees how great he was...free publicity.

(From the article) only one who is going to know what all this heat is worth is Laura. Hey, lets not forget Laura, who is one of the most beautiful First Ladies in history. Jackie may have been more tendy, but the current Mrs. Bush (I don't know her well enough to call her "Laura") is lovely and has class and dignity by the mile and is a joy to behold!

George and Laura Bush are the perfect couple because they exemplify Americana. Good looking, health, confident and in love. Can't get more mainstream that that.

IMO, your willingness to disenfranchise yourself (and ME) because there are women who vote without thinking reflects poorly both on your concept of America.....what it is, and what it should be. Our right to vote is one of our most valued possessions, and your cavalier approach to giving it up.....no matter how high minded (and arrogant??) your reasons may be.....calls into question your ability to think any more soundly than the 'arousal gappers' whom you wish to disenfranchise.Very well expressed, oWf. Thank you.
I don't know if it's my age (I'm in my early forties) or what, but I just don't see myself as subordinate to men. You'd have to pry my right to vote from my cold, dead fingers.
If some have difficulty accepting the will of others to vote as they see fit, my suggestion would be to work to educate those whose voting habits are so offensive, rather than suggesting they shouldn't have the right to vote at all.
The realization that some people think that way actually scares me.

Besides which, you obviously have paid quite a bit of attention to what the President and First Lady wear, so I'm a bit confused as to why you feel it necessary to criticize others who do the same.To be honest, I wondered this also. (And I say this as someone who couldn't describe anything Laura Bush has chosen to wear since Inauguration Day.)

Good looking, health, confident and in love You know, you are SOOO right:
- LBJ and Ladybird -- marriage of convenence (famous affair to boot -- SHE love HIM but clearly not the other way around)
- Gerald and Betty Ford -- CLEARLY in Love
- RM Nixon and Pat -- CLEARLY in Love (and she stood by him through thick and thin)
- GH Bush and Barbara -- CLEARLY in Love
- WJ Clinton and Hitlery -- Marriage of convenience
- GW Bush and Laura-- CLEARLY in Love
I don't want to sound egotistical, but you may have helped me stumble onto a VERY overlooked characteristic of Republicans vs Democrats.
The fact that liberals always champion oddball relationships is their total inability to LOVE.
Hmmmm...

Exactly, Daughter. I'm in my early 50's and there is NO WAY on earth I would give up my right to vote.......from the Presidential election to the local fire levy.
Anyone who seriously is willing to hand over their vote because there are stupid people who vote for stupid reasons is, well.........stupid.
And, no....the President does not walk 'funny' He walks 'studly.'

How could you have left out Ronnie and Nancy Reagan, clearly "soulmates", in love and deeply devoted to each other.
To: freedumb2003
You left out John and Jackie......now THERE was a good marriage.........NOT!!!

You left out John and Jackie......now THERE was a good marriage CRAP! That was my thesis. I think I removed it when I was fixing up my < ul> stuff.
JHK and jackie was the FOREMOST example of "marriage of convenience."
I'm almost tempted to repost with that omission included.

One more time:
- JFK and Jackie -- marriage of convenience
- LBJ and Ladybird -- marriage of convenence (famous affair to boot -- SHE love HIM but clearly not the other way around)
- RM Nixon and Pat -- CLEARLY in Love (and she stood by him through thick and thin)
- Gerald and Betty Ford -- CLEARLY in Love
- Jimmy and Rosalind Carter -- OK, CLEARLY in Love (fair is fair)
- Ronald Raegan and Nancy -- CLEARLY in Love
- GHW Bush and Barbara -- CLEARLY in Love
- WJ Clinton and Hitlery -- Marriage of convenience
- GW Bush and Laura-- CLEARLY in Love
Obseved trend: Dems go for convenience, Reps go for Love. Ask Gerald Ford, Pat Nixon and Nancy Reagan about what that means. If Bill (if God is just) were stricken with Altzheimers, Hitlery would just see him for the photo-ops. nancy has been there protecting him like a mama bear protecting her cubs.

Well you have to look at it through the eyes of an easterner. He walks exactly the way most men out here in the west walk. It's a graceful, almost cat like agility. Watch him when he walks through the rocks at Prarie Chaple to get an idea why men who are not raised on concrete sidewalks move.
I was trying to explain to nopardons why she thought he walked with a strange gait. To the rest of us, it's not strange, it's the way it is.
