I had the most astonishing thought last Thursday. After a long day of hauling the kids to playdates and ballet, I turned on the news. And there was the president, landing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, stepping out of a fighter jet in that amazing uniform, looking--how to put it?--really hot. Also presidential, of course. Not to mention credible as commander in chief. But mostly "hot," as in virile, sexy and powerful.

Looks like Bush won over another Democrat constituency: the soccer moms.

Who is going to be left to vote for Democrats in 2004, except the 10% die-hard leftists?

That's why the Democrats are hysterical about Bush's landing and reception by the troops on the carrier.

I was in the US Navy and I think what the President did was fantastic...

I would have stayed awake four days to meet the President.

The reason I say that is I do recall the time I had to stay awake 3 days.

Oh yes - President Bush stepping off the Navy plane (which you just knew he flew for a bit on the way out there even before you heard it on the news) was very hot.

Gotta admit, he was very impressive in that flight suit! I hope the American public doesn't buy the leftys propaganda. He IS a foreign policy wonk, and okay, a HUNK to boot! :-)

Bush visit adds to USS Lincoln excitement#AP

ABOARD THE USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN - Still giddy after a visit from President Bush, thousands of war-weary sailors set about packing up and preparing to once again touch dry land after more than nine months at sea.

Some 2,500 sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln who gathered on the flight desk of the aircraft carrier cheered wildly Thursday as Bush told them they were "homeward bound" after one of the longest carrier deployments in recent U.S. military history.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Delphine Djossou, 28, of Washington, D.C., who later shared a table with the president during dinner said she was too excited to touch her meal of steak, lobster, crab and shrimp.

"I didn't eat anything. I talked the whole time," said the sailor.

Djossou and others said they were surprised by how down-to-earth Bush seemed. Petty Officer 1st Class Will Harthoorn, 41, of Stockton, Calif., recalled the president telling him he fixes coffee for his wife every morning, the same ritual Harthoorn said he follows when he's home.

"He goes and makes his wife a cup of coffee every morning. He said that is the most important thing you need to do," Harthoorn said the president told him.

Petty Officer 1st Class Theodore Morales, 37, of Tucson, Ariz., indicated he couldn't wait to share the memory of having a meal with a Bush with his 7-week-old son, Chance.

"Maybe one day he'll say 'Hey, my dad met the commander in chief,'" he said.

Chance was one of 150 babies born to fathers away on the Lincoln, a point not lost on Bush during his speech. "Your families are proud of you and your nation will welcome you," he said.

Many of the 5,000 sailors said it will be some time before they forget their last day away from port, and several praised Bush for making it special.

"It's like when you thought everybody forgot about you," said Djossou. "He came out here and made everything better because he didn't forget."

After dinner, some of the excitement over the presidential visit was replaced by the anticipation of arriving home. Sailors packed up their clothes and computers and lined up at phones to make last-minute arrangements to meet loved ones.

Airman Denise Burt, 23, of Grand Rapids, Mich., won't be among the ones leaving the ship in San Diego on Friday, however. She is part of the crew that will return the carrier to its home port of Everett, Wash., in a few days.

She hopes it won't be so long that her 13-month-old daughter, Amaya, forgets her.

"I sent an e-mail picture of myself and they told me she tried to grab it out of the computer," she said. "I guess that means she knows me."

I'm a woman, but, I wish, with ALL of my heart, that woman's suffrage be repealed ! No one, NO ONE , should vote for a presidential candidate because they find him " sexy "/ " a hottie ".

Clinton makes my skin crawl; it's not just his " looks ", but also his policies ( lack thereof ), politics, and everything else about him. OTOH, I don't find President Bush to be " sexy "/ " a hottie " and when I see him walk ( no matter WHAT he's wearing ), I always find myself wondering why he has such a deformed gate ( sp.?). I voted for him and shall do so again, because of what he has done and what I know he will do, if re-elected.

CANDIDATES SHOULD ONLY BE HEARD AND NOT SEEN !

Oh now there ya go.....I had just recovered from my swooning sessions over the sight of our hunky, hot President in that flight suit, and ya go posting this article about how hot he is. There is simply no denying it--the man is a hottie, and he's OURS. Lucky country.

*sigh* And Laura is a lucky woman.

Note to self: Virile, Confident, Powerful,

I never thought about this (GWBush's Looks) until during the 2000 election one of my mom's friends rather gushingly and certainly spontaneously blurted out a quick line that made the room blush, but, then again it was a room full of soon to retire librarians and (tired and sick of the system) school teachers.

Anyway, what was the point... oh, yeah, bump this thread and make another democrat lurker have to see the headline again.

I agree with you. But in real life, even if you don't call it "sex appeal" people are influenced by overall impressions: good looking people get jobs more easily, do better in general, etc., it's not fair, but it's a fact of life.

I think in Bush's case, people, men and women, admire Bush's leadership, character, integrity, when he says something he does it, carries through, he has made some terrific decisions, and so on. I think it's more like "now here goes a real man, a real President and Commander in chief".

This couldn't be said about Clinton, because a preoccupation with sex and adultery is not what makes a man a "real man".

No but it sure is an added plus, brains plus good looks. I never miss a chance to see GWB on TV just because I like the way he comes across, a caring human being and a warm smile.

Or is it that because he is so smart he is perceived as being good looking?

LOL!!! Somehow Byrd just doesn't look as good even in a flight suit.

It just goes to show you that the flight suit alone doesn't make a man, but Character and Leadership does.

Frankly, I would vote for Bush if he looked like a one-eyed cyclops.

His hunkiness and hottieness is just icing on the cake. And I'm enjoying every minute of it. It feels good to be happy over our leader! Our country has been through so much misery on 9/11 and after. I thank God for the chance to rejoice at something, and that something is our hunk-of-a-man President! So nobody, including some of the cranky freepers who roam these halls, is going to take my joy away!!!

Thank-you for saying in your post what a lot of us men are thinking.

These shallow remarks about "looks" are just as embarrassing when spoken by a Republican women as is was by Democrat women with Clinton in the 1990's.

I can't believe the WSJ is printing this trash.

Thanks again!

Here is another picture, not as well known:
