[history]
I had the most astonishing thought last Thursday. After a long day of hauling the kids to playdates and ballet, I turned on the news. And there was the president, landing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, stepping out of a fighter jet in that amazing uniform, looking--how to put it?--really hot. Also presidential, of course. Not to mention credible as commander in chief. But mostly "hot," as in virile, sexy and powerful.

I'll just weigh in and say: Because I am confident that conservative women vote for the right reasons, I am not threatened or disturbed in the least by the fact that women find President Bush attractive.
And while I'm here, I will also say that my right to vote is precious to me, and I'm not willing to give it up for anything. There are plenty of men out there who don't give nearly as much thought to voting as I do (and typically vote for Democrats). The answer is to reach and educate people, not deny their right to take part.

Well now......MEN have the right to be stupid, and plenty of them are........even around here, right??
I've been in 'debates' with some of the jerks around here who are actually serious when they say women shouldn't have the right to vote.
They haven't got a logical thought in their empty heads, so I prefer to ignore them.

Don't you wonder what's WRONG with people......men OR women.....who are threatened or disturbed by President Bush's being attractive? There's an insecurity there somewhere .....
And you're right about the many men who don't give a rip about issues, and are uninformed voters. The very idea of disenfranchising anyone because some people in their gender/racial group don't vote for the right reasons is ludicrous on its face.

Thanks for the pings. Yes, W is HOT but as had been said before, were it not for his loving devotion to his wife and family he wouldn't be nearly as HOT! EXACTLY
As for Terry "The 18 Million Man" McAuliffe .. FAT CHANCE AND DEAL WITH IT!!

Are you still at it? We don't require people to list their reasons for voting for a candidate and then disqualify them if we don't like their reasons. What is the point of that? We may as well have a dictatorship where you can only vote if you vote for the "approved" candidate. Sort of like how Saddam got 100% of the vote.
Geez, you're irrational and scary. What beaurocracy would we set up to ensure people are voting for the "right reasons" (according to you) or not allowed to vote.

I wonder about women who would give up their right to vote so that other women wouldn't have it. I think that's bizarre, frankly.
Yes, I wish some women paid more attention to what they were doing when they go into a voting booth - but I feel the same way about men, because I know a few of them who are just as influenced by the image a candidate projects, and the image of a candidate that the media puts forth.
Example: I know a very intelligent man who works at Microsoft who is not necessarily liberal, but who has completely bought the idea that President Bush is stupid. He doesn't like the way the president talks. He is surrounded by conservative friends and coworkers, but apparently the mainstream media has succeeded in convincing this guy that President Bush is an idiot.
So what do we do with that guy? Deny his right to vote? No, we can't do THAT - he is anatomically correct!
This "repeal the 19th amendment!" crowd really bugs me. Stupidity is not a gender-specific problem.

Back on the West Side, among the liberals I live surrounded by, there was dissent. At my younger children's preschool, comments ranged from "well he's cute, but not my type" to "I can't think of anything more revolting." Many of them still cite Bill Clinton and his allegedly penetrating intellect as more appealing. I've never gotten why people think Clinton is good-looking. Bush is much more attractive; heck, even Al Gore is better-looking than Clinton.

" Besides, the thing about George that makes it hard for anyone's fantasies to run amok is that there is reason to believe that the only one who is going to know what all this heat is worth is Laura. "
The sexiest thing of all.
Oh baby-how RIGHT you are! :^)

Okay, I promise I'll never again question your right to stay on any thread that you hate in the future. Whatever floats your boat.
And yes, I know it's a political forum, but does that mean that we're not allowed a moment of humor or fun? You've heard of those things, haven't you?
Lastly, I've never voted for a candidate based on looks and I never will. That was an assumption on your part. And I've NEVER voted for Willie Brown either.
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
More women, than men vote Dem. That says quite a bit.
Don't question MY intellect nor opinion about this one;it is something carefully and logically thought out. :-)
To: SeenTheLight
Oh, " we " can and have had and do " have fun ". OTOH, there is little " funny " about women who think about elected officials in terms of whether or not they're " a hottie " or not. It makes ALL women appear to be brainless bodies, dictated to by their hormones and genitalia. If you find this humorous, so be it.

I am hardly " irrational", dear.OTOH, from what you've written, it is patently obvious, that you lack reading comprehension skills, common sense, and knowledge of and about politics. You've blatantly put words in my mouth, assumed some peculiar things about me,all because you don't like what I wrote. It's precisely this kind of stuff, that gives women a " bad name "; whether you realize it or not. LOL
To: Motherbear
Okay, let's get pictures of EVERY " sexy " man ( but do remember, what one person finds " sexy", others do not ! ), put them on ballots, and let people vote for whi they think is THE sexiest guy, for president. Is
THAT really how we want our president chosen ? I don't !
BTW, Clinton was " confident ". Do you find him worthy ?
To: ODC-GIRL
When mentally retared people vote, don't we question that ? Though I am NOT saying that women are like those whose IQs make then unfit to vote, or that some of them aren't as intelligent and informed as men are( some are more so ! ), it is a fact that more women pay less attention to politics and current events AND vote in larger numbers for Dems.
Why should my simple post so offend you ? Are YOU that insecure ?
