We just had a patrolman shot earlier today. Just outside of Cortez, Colorado. Only info I have about his name is Patrolman Chris. He was shot by a man driving a silver Buick Skylark, 80's model with Texas plates # 3NPWY.
Please pray for the officer (for life), and for the capture of the shooter.
Thankyou

Praying for the fallen officer that he might live to spend the rest of his days with his family. Please Father, grant mercy and healing on this officer who was only doing his job. We ask that You give strength to his family and loved ones during this time.

Prayer BUMP. I remember once when a CO trooper was shot, my dad was on duty. Took a while to find out the details and that it wasn't him. Pins and needles!

Officer's name is Chris Cahone. He was life-flighted to GrandJunction. The suspect shot himself in the foot and was also life-flighted to GrandJunction.
I spoke to another Patrolman about an hour ago and he said that Officer Cahone was upgraded from Critical to Serious. He was wearing a vest when he was shot. The chest shot was not life threatening. The side shot was a little more serious.
I asked the officer to let Officer Cahone know that we are praying for him!! He said to tell you all thankyou and he would let him know!!
Dont know why the suspect was life-flighted over a foot shot. LOL (hope he blew his foot off!!!)
They also say that there was only one suspect, even though last night they were saying possibility of 3. The community will need prayers too. This is hard on us all because it is 5 years, almost to the day, they we lost Officer Claxton in the same way!!
Thankyou all for your prayers!!!
Blessings,
Tracy

Sure will Tracy!! The wheels are coming off this world imo. There's more nuts per square inch in North America than I thought I would ever witness in my lifetime. *groan* I really pray for the world my grandchildren are having to grow up in.

Wouldn't be the first time someone tried to stretch a thread into an illegal alien thread, either.

UPDATE ON OFFICER SHOT NEAR CORTEZ A scary moment for a patrol officer but more encouraging news today. K-9 officer Chris Cutrone and the suspect who shot him. Brent David Derrick are still recuperating at Saint Mary's Hospital.
The shooting happened when the Colorado State Patrol officer pulled a stolen 1996 Buick LaSabre over for a routine traffic violation early in the afternoon. This happening in the southwest portion of the state near the town of Cortez.
What that violation was is still unknown. What is known is the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Cutrone several times. The most serious hitting him on the upper chest area above his bullet-proof vest.
The suspect drove away and eventually ditched his car in a nearby reservoir. Officers found the car sinking in the water. Several law enforcement officers tracked the suspect down and found him with a single gun-shot wound. Derrick is believed to have shot himself.
As for officer Cutrone, he stumbled to the nearby Ute Mountain Casino where he collapsed. Both men were taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez and airlifted to Saint Mary's Hospital.
The suspect is still in critical the officer has been upgraded from critical to serious according to Dan Prinster, hospital spokesman. Both seem to be progressing well and we expect that both will make a full recovery. It seems Derrick isn't trigger shy in attacking police officers.
He's also wanted in Amarillo, Texas for assault against a public servant as well as aggravated robbery. As for Cutrone, his wife is by his side right now.
