If you can't believe Genesis literally, then who gets to pick and choose what is real and what is parable? There are absolutely no limits to that.
What sort of "moral lesson" is there in God creating the world? An analogy would make absolutely no sense there, in addition to making the entire Bible unreliable.

If you are a literalist, I guess that would be true, but tell me the lesson that was taught by Genisis.
I think that you could probably figure it out if you think hard enough.
The BIBLE is NOT a history book, although it has some excellent historical references, it is a book of morals, and it teaches those through stories that are easily understood.
I am sure, if you used the common sense that you claim you have, you can figure it out.
I did, it was quite simple actually.
Science and the bible do not collide at all, if you don't take the bible literally, but if you take it literally, you will collide with science head to head, as you are doing now.

My Bible says "And God said, "Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life..."
So the waters did. When God tells ya to do something, your supposed to listen.

If you take Genesis literally, then you have to believe that the earth is flat, and is covered by a large, clear dome on top of which rests an ocean of water, and that the dome opens up to allow rain to pour onto the earth. Most pictures of earth taked from space dispute this.
