White House to Sen. Byrd- 'Do It Again, Please' (USS Lincoln Complaining) [Excerpt from The Note]
ABC News ^ | May 8, 2003 | Marc Armbinder

One Democrat moaned yesterday as he watched the cable news programs replay hours of footage of President Bush on the carrier with audio about Democratic complaints.

'Im watching him get high fived and buzz the tower again,' the Democrat said. 'The White House should have thought of this controversy themselves!'

Democratic questions about Bush's jet landing made the front page of USA Today complete with the 'Fly Boy' photo that will have Mike Deaver smiling.

Along these lines, a Senior Administration Official told the ABC Political Unit 'The more time the President talks about defense and security issues, the more he hurts Democrats and reinforces the public's positive perceptions of the Presdient.'

'Do it again, do it again is our message to Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.'

The Democrats are doing things to make their base happy, but alienating the center of the electorate.

Eagles up bump!
(We need a picture of KKK Byrd in his robes swooping down on an aircraft carrier a la the Flying Nun.)

The Dims are adrift at sea with Little Tommy as their de-facto leader.

It sucks to be a Democrat these days.

Idn't that the truth. You know, the Dims focused on the right strategy in mid-2002 in deciding to "me to" the war effort and oppose the Prez on economic issues, but the Daschle Dims couldn't stop themselves from deviating from the strategy. I doubt even that approach could defeat Bush in 2004, but it would get them a lot closer than they are now. You'll notice, however, that Hillary! is sticking to this strategy with discipline. Whatever else the Clintons are (don't get me started), they are very astute politicos.

I caught the Maxine "You're a racist" show last night (on Scarborough?) - Let 'em rant, please, let 'em rant - their hatred is palpable.

The FUN part is.... there are HUNDREDS of shots of the President in a FLIGHT SUIT being HUGGED by smiling Sailors and Fighter Jocks

I have been looking all over for photos of the hugs when he landed. Particularly, there is one where he walks into a group and they surround him.

I only saw it once on TV. Do you know where I can find it?

Thanks!

Karl Rove is like Obi Wan Kenobi from 'Star Wars-' he makes the Dims and Hillary fall into the obvious trap despite using their best political intsincts!

Jedi Mind Strategery..

I agree!

He and the troops on that ship were enormously pleased with themselves, and had every right to be!

This is kind of Rove's version of the 'rope a dope' George Foreman fight in 1974, the Democrats exhaust themselves bludegeoning themselves on this issue and Rove is waiting to drop the hammer on Syria in October when they get tired.

I will never forget when my first grade daughter asked me what Presidential kneepads were.

I will never forgive Clinton for what he has done to this nation.

Sen. Byrd, you can score political points by taking on this issue in the Senate floor..
