Saddam Faces Trial in Iraq If Captured

The issue of how — and where — to try Saddam is certain to be an explosive issue in Iraq, where the deposed dictator and his Baath Party (search) are still regarded with terror. Options for trying the Iraqi leader could include a world court, a U.S. proceeding or an Iraqi-convened trial.

"There is a broad consensus that people who committed crimes previously against the Iraqi people should be tried within the Iraqi system," said Clint Williamson (search), the U.S. adviser to the Iraqi Justice Ministry

I see that!! You know, maybe we ought to post the flight suit pix on our daily thread opener for a while. Also it would be great (in terms of making Dim heads explode) to have the pix's show up more on the main news forum or FR front page. Don't know if other FReepers would agree but I would love to see it.

THink I will print off some of these flight suit pix for my bulletin board. heh

French Defense Minister Seeks Better U.S. Ties

PARIS — The French defense minister is urging her countrymen to send "some messages" to prevent relations with the United States from deteriorating.

In an interview with Le Parisien newspaper, Michele Alliot-Marie (search) said that she was concerned about Americans turning against France because of its opposition to the U.S.-led war to oust Saddam Hussein.

"What is worrying are the reactions of an American public opinion heated to white hot by political and media campaigns that undermine trans-Atlantic relations," Alliot-Marie said.

If the Dims are trying to "get at" the troops by slamming their CIC, then they are turning themselves into targets for the practice range, IMO. Worse than just wankers...approaching criminal, and evil beyond words.

Yes, here are the Democrats slamming President Bush and as we speak troops are returning home everyday. We have over five hundred troops returning to Little Rock Air Force Base today. And a soldier from the 2nd ACR (my son's old unit) was killed today in Baghdad. Byrd better shut his mouth. He is starting to really annoy me.

COALITION FORCES PROVIDE SECURITY, STABILITY (CONT. 8 MAY) - Centcom

CAMP DOHA, Kuwait – Coalition forces continue to actively patrol Iraq to make it safe for humanitarian assistance operations. Recent incidents highlight the dangerous nature of their work:

Third Brigade Combat Team soldiers were fired on early May 8 in Baghdad during a regular security patrol. They returned fire and called in psychological operations personnel who used a loudspeaker and gave instructions to surrender. Several individuals walked out and were detained. No U.S. soldiers were injured in the exchange.

Pfc. Lynch May Never Remember Ambush

WASHINGTON - It's unlikely that Pfc. Jessica Lynch will ever remember what happened in Iraq when her Army convoy was ambushed and she was taken as a prisoner of war, her doctor said Thursday.

This incident has been shrouded in secrecy, with various versions only now emerging about Lynch's injuries nearly seven weeks ago and the commando raid that rescued her April 1.
