Fletcher Can Stay On Ballot

The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled Wednesday Republican Ernie Fletcher can remain on the May primary ballot.

Candidate Steve Nunn's running mate -- Bob Heleringer -- challenged the legality of Fletcher's candidacy, saying the ticket was invalid when Fletcher picked an ineligible running mate, Hunter Bates. A judge ruled Bates did not meet residency requirements.

But other judges ruled the Fletcher candidacy was still legal. The Kentucky Supreme Court decision Wednesday affirms those rulings.

In addition to Nunn, Fletcher faces former Jefferson County judge-executive Rebecca Jackson and State Senator Virgil Moore in the May 20th primary.

Well, it moves this issue off the table and they can stretch it out and start talking issues.

I wouldn't exactly say he'll catch hell. I think it was a healthy thing for the GOP to settle this constitutional question before the Primary election and maybe give the Demos a shot at taking Fletcher out in the Fall election and leaving us with nobody on the ballot.

Nunn will get a lot less hell now that his viscious underhanded attack on Fletcher has ultimately failed. Pence is probably a better running mate than Bates anyway; some folks were already upset/bitter over the Bates/Mitch connection.

Still, Nunn has another two weeks to come up with more attacks to sabotage Fletchers chances in the general election. Luckily no one listens to him any more.

Nunn has shown himself to be a complete jerk who's interested only in himself. Let's hope he goes down in total flames, never to be heard from again.

Ernie Fletcher is one of the good guys and would make an excellent governor for Kentucky.
