[Hillary] Clinton’s book raises question
The Hill ^ | 5/7/03 | Open Secrets

Posted on 05/07/2003 2:01:10 PM PDT by Jean S

Her long-awaited White House book, Living History, won’t be in stores for another month, but there’s already speculation about how much writing help Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) got from her two “assistants,” author Maryanne Vollers and former Washington Post reporter Lissa Muscatine.

Clinton’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, which has embargoed the book until its June 9 release date, would not say if Vollers and Muscatine receive cover credit or even a mention in the acknowledgements.

But the pair could hardly fare any worse than Clinton’s collaborator on It Takes a Village, Barbara Feinman Todd. A veteran in the as-told-to trade, Todd had worked with former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.) and Washington Post authors Ben Bradlee and his wife, Sally Quinn, on their respective books. Her contract to help Clinton with It Takes a Village called for an expression of thanks and a payment of $120,000.

All went well until just before the book was published, when Todd learned her name didn’t appear in the acknowledgements. Then she began hearing talk that she’d been fired from the project, which was untrue. Later, when it was time to collect the final $30,000 installment of her collaboration fee, she was told the White House didn’t want her to be paid.

A few phone calls to Simon & Schuster from powerful Washington friends, including the Post’s Bob Woodward, one of her clients, finally got Todd a check for her work. The publisher also agreed to pay her Clinton-related legal bills.

Afterward, said Todd, she continued receiving Christmas cards from the Clintons but her name was always misspelled.

Depends on Hillary's plans for '04. If she runs for president, they won't be mentioned. Otherwise they may be mentioned, but not prominently.

Clinton-related legal bills.

Recurrent literary theme.

Petty, trashy people. Yet, there are still plenty of sheep who will blind themselves to the true nature of the wolves.

Once a sleaze, always a sleaze.

Other than, "WOW! Who's that good with an airbrush?" - Any questions?

That title must be misspelled also. It should be "Lying herstory" not "Living history"

Did they address her as Frau Tod?

My take on it, after the shrieking speech, would be "Lying Hysteria."

No advance previews means they don't want anybody to see how bad it is. And I'm sure there are some things that are still waiting for the statute of limitations to run their course in the next month. Remaindered by August.

O'Reilly alluded to this last night and said it wasn't the right time, but that it will be coming out later.

More to this story.

Why would anyone put out such a phony glamour shot when everyone sees her on TV and everywhere.

It only makes her look really bad in comparison!

Always finding a way to get someone else to pay their bills. She gets paid an advance and perhaps makes money on the books but still does not want to pay the people who actually wrote them. Trash, trash, trash. Mean trash.

Image:
Year 200?, President Hillary flys out in a Navy jet to meet a returning aircraft carrier. She steps from the flight control area (renamed after she found "cockpit" offensive) wearing her tight fitting flight suit. She moves around the deck thanking the crew for helping to feed starving non-white children who are suffering because of their non-white dictators are diverting all of the UN money to palaces.

Each sailor, except for the bi-sexual, transvestite, gay, transgendered command staff tries to duck her hugs, but she is quick and manages to snare several for a photo op. Cheers erupt when she announces she is leaving because the UN has demanded her presence.
