Prez Wannabe Graham Eyeing Evidence That Bush Blew 9/11

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bob Graham is reportedly sitting on damaging evidence that the Bush administration could have prevented the Sept. 11 attacks - but he hasn't released the information yet because it's classified.

"I think Bob Graham has a smoking pistol on the Bush administration," Congressional Quarterly's Craig Crawford told WABC Radio's John Batchelor and Paul Alexander late Tuesday.

Crawford explained that Graham's mystery evidence has to do with "their failures, particularly intelligence failures, before 9/11."

In recent weeks Sen. Graham, the senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, has charged repeatedly that Bush bungled the war on terrorism. But the ex-Florida governor has never publicly suggested that he thought the president had left America vulnerable to the 9/11 attacks.

Nevertheless, Crawford, who's been covering the Florida Democrat's presidential run, said that Graham obtained the Bush-9/11 evidence while serving as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

"The problem is that what [Graham] knows - and he knows some very damaging stuff about the Bush administration's failures before 9/11 to prevent 9/11 - he can't talk about because it's classified," he explained.

Another reason for Graham's silence: Republicans would likely complain that Graham has abused his position on the Intelligence Committee by turning it into a tool for opposition research.

Still, Graham has been publicly hinting at what he knows without going into detail, said the CQ reporter. He quoted a recent speech in which the senator claimed, "I know first hand, as former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, how little this administration has done to provide real security at home while it has directed its attention away from the war on terror abroad."

Crawford said that the presidential hopeful is trying to figure out a way to make the 9/11 evidence against Bush public without violating the secrecy rules on the Intelligence Committee.

"He's got something on Bush. He just can't figure out how to use it," he explained.

If Graham does indeed have evidence implicating the administration in 9/11-related negligence, it would be doubly ironic for the Bush White House, which has gone out of its way not to point fingers at the Clinton administration for its role in leaving America vulnerable to a 9/11-style attack.

Even an acknowledgement last year by ex-President Clinton that he turned down a deal for Osama bin Laden's extradition to the U.S. prompted only yawns from the Bush political operation

I have no use for Bush, but I doubt very seriously he could have prevented the 9/11 attacks. There are millions of nuts and subversives in America sending out danger signals. Knowing which one of them are going to act at any moment can be divined by 20/20 hinfsight, but is hard to predice beforehand.

How convenient. I've got Bush nailed but i can't tell you anything because its classified. Just give the info to Leaky Leahy, then the truth can be told. Come to think of it. Classification of information never stopped a politician before.

My "BS" meter is way pegged on this one. First of all, I agree the Rats would have used it during the 2002 elections. Secondly, if they had such information I'd wage a buzillion dollars they'd find a way of leaking the information. Thirdly, Graham's insinuations are the equivalent of all of these "a high ranking source who wishes to remain unidentified" b.s. quotations in newspapers.

In other words, he's using his position on the committee to portray himself as an expert on these matters and in-the-know. He then "insinuates" things and hides behind the "I'd tell you but I'd have to kill you first" argument. It's despicable.

"Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Bob Graham is reportedly sitting on damaging evidence that the Bush administration could have prevented the Sept. 11 attacks - but he hasn't released the information yet because it's classified."

Just tell it to Patrick Leahy -- that'll do it!

Yeah, but I feel really stupid when I do that. It's like joining a conversation and telling a joke or story that was just told.

It wasn't an election like 2004.......

The Secrets of September 11
The White House is battling to keep a report on the terror attacks secret. Does the 2004 election have anything to do with it?

http://www.msnbc.com/news/907379.asp?0cl=c1

The problem as always is not to hide stuff but get it out in the open first. That has always been the best way, instead if these reports are true it is only going to make matters worst. Even John LeBoutillier is hinting at a something in his latest story.

(scandal – long simmering – begins to unravel?)
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/5/5/213637.shtml

What I see will happen is rumor after rumor will get started. Best thing to do is to get out front and stop the problem now. Not later when the storm is full blown.

Just my 2 cents on this matter.

Of course our intelligence agencies missed obvious warning signs--they are good enough that they would pick those signs up, even if they didn't realize their full importance. It's obvious the ball was dropped at some point. And if Al Gore had managed to steal the presidency, we would be harping on this day and night. We would be posting that "if Gore hadn't stolen the election, 9/11 wouldn't have happened."

Bush and his underlings did f--- up, majorly, somewhere. Bush didn't take the threat of Islamist terrorism seriously enough to force change in the culture of the FBI (which practically just let this whole thing happen).

But does this mean Graham would have done, and will do, any better in the future? Of course not.

Then he should come out and say it and not try and hide it, and it will go away. If he does not the rats use it against him. The press is already working overtime on this and it makes The President look like he is hiding something. Get it done and over with now. As we see Graham will use it against him and this whole thing fits with the Bush Knew BS right after 911 that they started to use. Now if he is really saying we won't release this to the public it will sure as heck look like a cover up is going on.

How could there have been so much information that should have been available to the Bush adminisitration that would not have been available to the Clinton administration?
