There is a solution, but no one seems to have the stomach for it. It is delivering to the PLO the same justice that the Taliban and Iraqi Ba'ath Party have recently received.

After all, the Palestinians' annual "Palestine Prize for Culture" was recently presented to Abu Daoud for his recent memoir in which he detailed how he masterminded the 1972 massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics. I'm sure it was a fine book. I hope the new prime minister got a mention for financing the massacre.

It's rather impossible to have peace between two nations when one of the nations is bent on destroying the other nation.

There are certain thing here that people have to realize about arab culture. The Palestinians can't be given land, they need to take it. In a sense, if they are given land or a state, it would be akin to reseiving charity from a jewish or more aptly a Zionist entity. The idea of a muslim getting charity from a Zionist, is, to them, unthinkable. They have to conquer and win this land, or at least feel some kind of victory, with somone (Israel) being the loser. I think the easiest solution for Israel, give them 2 choices, make progress on a state, or LEAVE THE LANDS NOW, and push them out into syria and jordan or wherever. They either get there state or they will get the hell out and become the ultimate refugees.

This is what I don't understand. For years these kids have been taught to hate Jews. If there ever comes a day for peace, what are Arabs going to say? "Forget about all that Jew-hating stuff we've taught you, we're friends now." Yeah, right. It's going to take a significant amount of time to undo the brainwashing that has already taken place. It's too late, in my opinion.

It is taken a long time in the U.S. with regard to racial prejudice, especially in the South. Lots of Southerners pay public lip service to the civil rights movement (oh, hell--who am I kidding?--to the very reults of the Civil War) and teach racial hatred in their homes. You have to start somewhere and let the poison work its way out over generations.
To: thetruckster
I see your point, but, the Southerners got most of the military portion of their "resistance" out of their system during the Civil War. Arabs have been annihilated by modern Western armies for the better part of century, and yet, here we sit today, discussing the situation.
The UN/EU and even the US are all partly to blame for this. The UN for obvious reasons, not the least of which is the distribution of palestinian textbooks chock full of anti-semitism. The EU for their view (tacit approval) of terrorism being a legitmate form of resistance. Finally, some blame should go to the US for legitimizing Arafat as a credible leader (thanks BJ!) and "urging restraint" upon Israel in situations America itself would never show restraint.

As long as that DAMNED BOOK [Quran] exists ..there will be no peace on this earth.
Comically..the Liberal Historian refuses to admit to the violent path since the days of Muhammed.

Second time today I've felt it apropos to use this quote:
Will you indeed, Mr. Torrance? I wonder. I have my doubts. I and others have come to believe that your heart is not in this, that you haven't the belly for it.

I'm not going to worry about the 'road map' too much. Bush had to sound like he really has support for 'the legitimate aspirations of the pali people' (what a joke), but the palis themselves will destroy the road map. And W can say he tried.

I fear you will have to deal with this matter in the harshest possible way, Mr. Torrance. I fear that is the only thing to do.

The goal of our struggle is the end of Israel, and there can be no compromises or mediators... We don't want peace; we want victory. Peace for us means Israel's destruction and nothing else. That is what Arafat and his new Cabinet members believed yesterday, believe today, and will continue to believe in the unforeseeable future. Would Arafat today repudiate his quote? And if he did, who would believe him? In fact, could any Arab leader today repudiate Arafat's words?
One simple answer, NO.

They have to choose to change...Choice is what separates us from ameba. Will they? It looks pretty grim. They are still being encouraged and rewarded for barbaric behavior.
