Who are you folks kidding?
Bennett has been revealed as a fraud and rightfully so. He hires ghostwriters to write his speeches and books and then claims them to be original works. He smokes three packs a day, but moralizes about 'drugs.' He was Drug Czar during the crack explosion; test scores headed down every year he was the Education Czar.
He's been a fraud since he came into the Reagan Administration, when he attempted to cover up the fact that he was a Democrat. He is a phony and while this is a strange story to bust him on, I am perplexed at the number of his defenders.

No one's trying to "kid" anyone.
You anti-WOD people will hate Bennett to the end of time and this non-story is tailor made for you to excercise some of that rage.
I think Bennett's positions on the WOD are overblown and I don't agree with all of what he says.
But as the article says, he's a big sloppy Irish Catholic conservative that has pointed folks in the right direction in other areas.
And I think "hypocrisy" is waaaaay down the list of "sins". In fact, the elevation of hypocrisy into the pantheon of unforgivable offenses is one of vice's greatest tactics in the defeat of virtue. Take that to the bank. It's made it acceptable to reject the good in pursuit of the unattainable perfect.

He is a phony and while this is a strange story to bust him on, I am perplexed at the number of his defenders. Don't be perplexed. This crowd would defend Hilary Clinton, Saddam Hussein and Ho Chi Minh if they called themselves Republicans. You are asking for introspection from automatons.
And you are right on about Bill "Just Call me God" Bennett.

This author is chipping at nothing illegal here. What Bill does LEGALLY is his own business. If he gambles millions does it make him any more less a man politically than anyone else? Heck no....Has he done anything illegal. Noone has reported as such. So why is this author reaching for straws....Almost like they did to Bush before the election. This duck don't hunt. This author is blowing a bunch of somke up peoples A$$essssss

Good grief. Where do you get your information? You are the most ill informed and nuttiest person posting on this thread.
You have, apparently, not read the original article. If you have and are posting this kind of crap, I first assumed that you once worked in the White House basement during Clintons reign.
You are wrong about the money Bennett is claimed to have bet. You are wrong about the odds on high stakes video poker and slots. You are wrong about your characterization of his personal life because you obviously dont know him. You are making wild and bizarre statements.
To see what was what, I decided to check your references.
Your references include Thomas Fleming who did a hatchet job on Bennett and Kristol from the fever swamps of the loony right and who opposed the war in Iraq for many of the same reasons as the Left. He admires Ralph Nader and Dennis Kucinich for their principles. After reading your references I realize you are not a Liberal troll, you are a flaming kook with some kind of psychological problem with mainstream conservatives.
Dont bother responding, I have no wish to get into a discussion with you. I am posting this to let people know what kind of thing they are dealing with.

So any one know why his Catholicism was mentioned?? It's because of his being in the Christian Right that they REALLY hate him.

I quite agree. He and George Mitchell, the former federal Judge and Senator, are both over-bearing and arrogant telling us how powerful the feds must be, and are peas in a pod.

Bennett is a smoker!!!!!!!!! THE HORROR!

Bennett has been revealed as a fraud and rightfully so. How is Bennet a fraud? Did he write books on the evils of gambling?
Since when does a person have to obtain a state of personal perfection to write on any moral issues?
Besides...gambling is perfectly legal. It's those who want to bash Bennet over this who are the real hypocrites.
