Anti-war MP George Galloway said he was pelted with stones when he spoke at a May Day rally.
The Glasgow Kelvin MP was speaking at a workers' festival in Wallasey, Merseyside, to a crowd of around 200 supporters.
When he began his speech, a shaven-headed man threw three objects including eggs and shouted profanities.
The man was confronted by several members of the crowd before being taken away by police.
Mr Galloway went on to deliver a 15-minute speech in which he defended himself against newspaper allegations that he was on Saddam Hussein's payroll.
The egg thrower was arrested by police to prevent a breach of the peace.
He gave his name as David Anson, a 41-year-old unemployed builder from the local area.
He said: "I don't agree with him going to Saddam. I have got friends who have been out there and a few who have died."

Galloway to address rally
MP George Galloway is to make his first public appearance since the accusation he was on Saddam's payroll.
The anti-war Labour MP for Glasgow Kelvin is to address a May Day rally in Wallasey, Merseyside.
He has strongly denied all the allegations
Alec McFadden of organisers Merseyside TUC said he was 'honoured' to have Mr Galloway speak, but the Wirral council has distanced itself from the event.

"Pelted with stones"....."three objects including eggs". If at least two of the three objects were eggs, how could he possibly have been pelted by "stones"? Is this guy prone to hyperbole or simply trying to garner pity for this traitorous acts?
To: knighthawk
Weird article. The headline says "stones"--the article says "eggs."
I'm thinkin' here that most people would choose eggs, all other things being equal.

I am willing to donate to a David Anson Legal Defence Fund if any such entity comes into existence.

What an ironic twist....
Galloway has neither 'stones' nor 'eggs'.
To: knighthawk
So he spoke to a small group of rabid socialists on Mayday, defending his possible collusion with Saddam's regime on May Day. And got pelted with eggs. Interesting that the article says one object was an egg and Gallowsway says he was 'pelted with stones'...and that the alleged 'pelter' threw only three objects. Hardly pelting.
More propaganda from the Marxist brigade.
I was busy watching President Bush's speech from aboard the USS Lincoln. More interesting by far. EGAD he looks good in a flight suit. He's a pilot through and through all right. Now THAT'S my idea of a CnC!
