Maybe I wasn't clear. I live in CA and NOW pay sales tax even when using the Internet if the company has an outlet in CA. This occurs even if I place an order from a store that is outside of CA. The last thing ammo dealers would do is to violate a CA law. Their license would be revoked by the BATF or worse. Gun and ammo dealers have to be squeaky clean on all their business dealings.

Remember the "Stamp Act"? In 1765 the British Parliament imposed a tax on every sheet of paper someone used. It was an attempt by the British to impose a tax the purpose of which was to suppress the free speech rights of the American people by imposing an onerous tax on newspapers, legal documents, and so forth. This bill in California is an attempt to suppress the right to keep and bear arms by imposing an onerous tax on each bullet. The Stamp Act was one event of several the combined together made us so mad that we kicked the British out of America for good. This does not bode well for California liberals. I can imagine that there are chickens being plucked and pots of tar being warmed up even as you read this.

Al, Al, you are more than right! My point is, nobody will buy ammo or related item in the late great state of California. We all know and respect the impeccable reputation of California arms dealers. If the brainless California bureaucrats install a 10 cent per round tax, they will loose the revenue they collect now.

Can't. They have customs inspectors at the state border crossings, but since that would be unconstitutional, they call them "agricultural inspection stations" instead. They would nail you with the tax there.

Good for you! From my perspective (not in California, I hasten to add), that is the only solution to a continuing series of problems vis-a-vis gun ownership in that state.

Of course, one's personal circumstances may preclude this solution but I cannot see things ever getting any better in what used to be a wonderful state. The liberals are likely to stay in charge and continue to turn the screws on the good and decent people.

All production was being diverted for the war in Iraq. Look for the market to get flooded with .308 and .223 within 2 years. IMI will start shipping to the states again soon also. M2 will be another problem, the CMP needs to come up with some sort of arrangement to have somebody make M2 cheaply with good quality. (unlike that new Olymic Greek garbage)

They don't need to add that exception, as the states have no power to tax the federal government, or to impose 'fees' on it. Individuals are a different matter, though. Just to be clear about this measure (which will almost certainly pass), it does not tax any public agencies, but does except current, active duty LEO's from having to pay the tax personally. But, it's still an evolving piece of work, and that's subject to change.

I'd would seriously consider a career in blackmarket ammo if they charged 10 cents a round. Ammo Runners would be the hit of the decade.
