WASHINGTON -A politically connected Chinese-American woman accused of being a double agent had 2,100 contacts with Chinese officials during her time as an FBI informant, documents show.

Law enforcement officials are examining whether those meetings compromised investigations into possible Chinese influence on U.S. elections through campaign contributions.

Normally, when we see an FBI failure like this, after the event, the FBI folks involved get promotions, citations, maximum bonuses and praise, with no blame assessed against anyone. This time, let's get rid of every FBI employee who ever had any contact with this woman. Just terminate them all.

It was..

The FBI and two congressional committees conducted lengthy inquiries in the late 1990s into an alleged clandestine effort by the Chinese government to influence U.S. policy by funneling tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions through U.S. intermediaries to the Democratic National Committee, congressional candidates and former President Clinton's campaigns.

$%@##%# bastards.

Hopefully there will be more scrutiny of Shillery's POTUS campaign than there was of her lying, cheating husband.

public records as an information source or target of campaign finance investigations

Ah, but Ashcroft disbanded the campaign finance task force. He sent Robert Conrad, the head of the task force who had told Reno to appoint an IC to investigate Gore, away by arranging an appointment as a US Attorney. Ashcroft has demonstrated no interest whatsoever in government corruption.

Nothing will come of this. It doesn't seem to matter which party is in power.

Only TENS OF THOUSANDS? BS! HUNDREDS of thousands. Chinagate wasn't THAT long ago. In fact, Chinagate is fresh enough in our memories that we not gonna allow the media to change history.

Look, Gore made a (not-so) secret trip to China just days before he dropped out of the presidential campaign. Hillary beat him to the Chicoms for their campaign donations so that she could be ready for what is opening up now. No one is yet connecting the dots on this in the journalistic community or the Justice Dept. Don't get your hopes up. She still has the FBI files with which to intimidate any Congressional investigators.

Nobody can fire a government employee. There are government employees who are murderers and still keep their jobs. There are government employees who are avowed communists and still keep their jobs. Until firing a government employee is made as easy as flushing a toilet, government will keep getting worse and worse and wrose.

Filegate rears its ugly head one again. The only way the Clintons will go to jail is if these files are recovered.

The following strategic objectives of 'perestroika' may be distinguished. ...

For the United States

(a) To neutralize the influence of the anti-Communist political right in the American political parties and to create favorable conditions for a victory of the radical left in the 1992 presidential elections.

(b) To 'restructure' the American military, political, economic and social status quo to accommodate greater convergence between the Soviet and American systems and the eventual creation of a single World Government.

Sorry...I don't accept that excuse. The 'files' excuse is just a convenient way to excuse every example of weakness or failure on the part of our guys to do the right thing. How could we possibly have elected so many people with so many bad things in their past? If we have, what does that say about us?

I don't dispute the files being in the hands of evil people and used to their advantage, but I do dispute the idea that every example of rolling over is a files thing, or that there are no other reasons for weakness on the part of the 'good guys'.

"What could have occurred is information she got from him, investigative leads, getting to targets," said Robert Conrad, a former head of the Justice Department's campaign finance task force who now is U.S. attorney in Charlotte, N.C.

Conrad said he did not have any firsthand knowledge of Leung's possible role in the campaign finance investigation because he headed the task force in its later years. But a senior FBI official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Leung did provide useful information to the FBI through Smith that was used in the agency's investigation.

Remember, AG Ashcroft disbanded the campaign finance task force.

Who wants to tell me why he did that? Who wants to tell me why he demonstrates no interest whatsoever in government corruption?

Anyone?
