[history]
Navy pilot John "Skip" Lussier has made hundreds of aircraft carrier landings but none like his pressure-filled touchdown on the USS Abraham Lincoln with President Bush in the cockpit.
"The pressure was ratcheted up just a little bit, but I tried not to think about it," Lussier said Friday on ABC's Good Morning America. "I just wanted to focus on it as a mission and make sure I got the president aboard safely."

It is really hard to sum up "flying the ball" in such a short article, but that article is pretty accurate. Once one becomes used to it, flying in the daytime becomes almost like sport. At night it never gets any easier. I have buddies of mine that say it takes a long time to get their legs to stop shaking after a night trap. Never had it that bad, but it would take me a while to wind down afterwards. I love to hear the Air Force guys whine about tanking at night. They don't know how good they've got it.
Frame of reference:300+ traps in F-14s

Every person who ever served myself included has to have respect for GWB. I've liiked him from the beginning and the admiration and respect just keep growing. Anyone brave enough to make a carrier landing even as a passenger shows me that they will put their life on the line to serve. He makes real Americans proud to be Americans. To heck with his critics. Still I'd have had to throw that Viking around the sky a little bit. It's the stick and rudder side of me. God Bless GWB, our Military, and America.

Who can tell? But it gave me a headache. I have seen original articles that were as bad or worse. It could be the result of our dumbed down educational system has effected writing, editing, and posting. Before PC's I could spell. But I was educated before the current dumbed down public system.

...not as much as der Schlickmeister -- but that's another story and another sort of "stick time."
To: Incorrigible
Unfortunately not. We were there at the same time but the name isn't even slightly familiar.

The guy caught the 4 cable? Umm....that is NOT a good trap.
To: SMEDLEYBUTLER
OK...thanks for clearing that up...I thought they were numbered 1-4 aft forward as well.
Catching the 4 isn't as dangerous as catching a 1, but I bet the pilot still takes some ribbing :)

I agree. GWB is a great man.

His popularity is proven by the length of time that these threads stay alive. He's one gutsy guy and a heck of a poker player. He is my first living hero since childhood.

BTW. You know WJC would have shown his willingness to take a risk by having unprotected sex with some underling. Thank goodness he got no live TV coverage on that.

At this point I have no idea what cable he caught. I've been told the info from Fox News' John Scott was correct, and I've been told it was not correct. So, I'm in as much a quandry as I was when the whole thing took place. Frankly, after all the misinformation, disinformation and information out there, I've had it!! I don't care how the cables are numbered, I don't care what cable was caught. The most important thing is that they landed A-OK. I'm not upset with you, I'm just tired of the controversy over something that should have been explained simply and without spin by the news media.
To: Flurry
We couldn't do much better in the hero department, I agree. Not only is our President a hottie...but a man's man. I'm with you... God Bless W, our military and America.

My better half thinks he is the second sexiest man alive, she thinks Mel Gibson is the sexiest. I have to hang a pork chop around my neck to get our lab to play with me.

Your better half and I would get along just fine. Please relate to her I have a business card in my wallet...with the number...1-800-CALL MEL. If I am ever in any trouble, or in danger...I can call this number and Mel will come to my rescue at any time day or night.
My better half just shakes his head. He has no need of a pork chop, we have no dog. :)
