It's time to stop supporting these institutions with your children.
Annual homeschooling conventions offer a vendor area with an extensive selection of "twaddle free" (no vapipd PC nonsense permitted) materials.
Why anyone would settle for government indoctrination (over educational freedom) is beyond me.

This is ridiculous. Home school is the only way to educate your children...

The Savage Nation had Diane Ravitch on this week. She wrote a book about this called "The Word Police". I can't remember her name, but she was a Ph.D. All the lunacies mentioned above, plus a few more, were mentioned by her. She pointed out that this is being done by the publishing companies and that unless something is done to stop it, our vocabulary will be reduced to fewer and fewer words, and accuracies in descriptions and history will be totally dumbed down.
A big middle finger to the NEA over this one.

Who cares whether there are pictures of hot dogs and sodas in a text book? But to drop reference to the Founding Fathers, is to drop refererence to the continuity of American life. "Fathers" is a term of patrimony, of ancestry. Our institutions are not something writ on paper. The paper writings merely reflect the cultural heritage of a particular people. It is this reality, which the "politically correct" crowd wish to obfuscate. (See
Destroying Cultural Continuity.)
We are in a war for the survival of our existence as a distinct people. There are many among us, who do not realize the deliberate, long term, attack on that existence, which dominated Leftist thinking throughout much of the 20th Century. That attack did not end with the collapse of World Communism. Indeed, we have lost further ground in the euphoria which followed that event.
The whole thrust of education in America has been tangential for a long time now. These text book changes are merely symptomatic of a much deeper problem. On the other hand, we should grab every opportunity to try to get others thinking about what is being done in comparison to what should be done.

My colleague and I sent our textbook (which, for $ reasons, we aren't going to label it a "textbook") to the agent for a pre-submission review. You can bet your bippy that we are NOT "PC." We even refer to countries as "she" and "her." There is a full chapter devoted to the discussion/debate over the Constitution; an analysis of western "vigilante" free market justice; an investigation of how the free market SAVED the bison; the Reagan years presented in their GLORY; and the best stuff on post 1999 that you've ever read. I'm excited, and it hasn't even been accepted yet.

I;m waiting for Sally Hemings to be referred to as a "helpmeet" rather than an opportunistic target painted w/ a bullseye for a certain Founder.

"American Indians should not be depicted with long braids, in rural settings or on reservations. There are no suggestions on how they should be depicted, however."
I have a suggestion on how they should be depicted: being handed a Fed Gov't check and casino profits check.
Anyone want to go the new $120,000,000 casino in Palm Springs, Calif.? They pay other minorities and whites a whole $15,000 take-home pay and offer them health insurance for $3,000 a year.
There are some American Indians that have made it off the reservations, but too few. In fact, in all my years at two large corporations, American Indian is the one minority I could never find to employ.

We need to make sure that all ethnicities are represented. We need to make sure that both males and females are represented. We need to make sure that our materials cover the full gamut.
Teah, right.
Should pedophiles be represented?
Albanians?
Rapists?
(Oh, I guess Clinton probably is in there.)
Are you prepared to tell the truth about Aztec human sacrifices of children?
There are thousands of ethnic groups on the planet. There are thousands of cultural differences.
Ultimately the textbook writers (and censors) have to make choices.
Those choices reflect the values they want to pass on to children.
So, lady, don't pretend you are "fair" and "neutral".
You are not.
You want to dumb down our kids so that can be cannon fodder for the totalitarian socialist state of the future that is in your dreams.
Confess!
