Used to live next door to NAS Miramar in Mira Mesa and loved to hear the "Sound of Freedom".Always went to see the air shows at Miramar in the 70's. Knew a few Tomcatters and Top Guns.

I really enjoyed seeing the CIC exchange salutes with those sailors today. Shows respect goes both ways - missed that when trash lived at the Whitehouse.

I wonder if 41 and 43 will "share" a library.

Just got in from moving the tractor inside before the storm hit, and found this:

Bush toured the carrier's operations center, watched jets take off and met with F-18 pilots and with Capt. Kendall L. Card. After his speech, he was having dinner with about 150 enlisted sailors.

WHo is Capt. Card related to?

This should be very exciting to see Air Force One land on a carrier!

Nope, it's NAVY One! *grin*

I don't know! I could go into a lot of detail but I'm still very careful about that stuff...Nobody knows exactly where I live so I felt safe with what I said.

It literally happened maybe 20 minutes ago? Maybe a little longer.

I'll never forget it as long as I live.

Photo ops:

Normandy beach, flags by the graves in Normandy, hospital with Rangers injured in Somalia, speaking to troops in bomber jacket, dancing on the beach with the b*itch, binoculars with lens caps on, fake crying at Ron Brown funeral, dropping in on wedding party in Scotland and getting caught staring at bride's boobs.

I know...it didn't escape me.

Sometimes the F16s fly over our house and I can hear them and sometimes see them. I will run out in the yard and pray for them right there in the back yard. They can't see me, but God can hear me.

Is he (41) still going to skydive when he turns 80?

Methinks the son gets some of his courage from his father......and the rest from his mother!

Yep. It's really odd that noise complaints at Miramar dropped to ZERO after 9/11 even though flight ops increased. One of our chronic complainers explained that it was a "different sound" now. (No, sir, it's the same sound. You just finally get it.)

I spent alot of time in Mira Mesa (right on the 5) at my then-fiance's house, and the helicopters never bothered me. Nothing like a flight of four going right over your house to keep you on your toes :-)

Don't forget the fake flower picking up scene in Oklahoma City.

Wow.....I despise that creep! He still makes my blood boil!

"I could go into a lot of detail but I'm still very careful about that stuff."

Gotcha. That occured to me after I posted.

What the heck, Army, Marines, Navy, who cares? They're ours and we love them!

"he says you are actually SAFER coming into SAN because the pilot is on his toes."

Yep, my pilot husband says the same thing. A routine approach is probably more dangerous.
