Used to live next door to NAS Miramar in Mira Mesa and loved to hear the "Sound of Freedom".Always went to see the air shows at Miramar in the 70's. Knew a few Tomcatters and Top Guns.

I really enjoyed seeing the CIC exchange salutes with those sailors today. Shows respect goes both ways - missed that when trash lived at the Whitehouse.

Yep. It's really odd that noise complaints at Miramar dropped to ZERO after 9/11 even though flight ops increased. One of our chronic complainers explained that it was a "different sound" now. (No, sir, it's the same sound. You just finally get it.)

I spent alot of time in Mira Mesa (right on the 5) at my then-fiance's house, and the helicopters never bothered me. Nothing like a flight of four going right over your house to keep you on your toes :-)
