Landing (as a passenger) at SAN was always exciting, but especially way back when the Convair 990's did not have thrust reversers. Many times we would barely make the turn around at the extreme end of the runway right next to NTC & MCRD.!
Anyone had a steerburger at Boll Weevil lately? I think that's what I miss most about San Diego.
If this was W's first trap on a carrier, I imagine he just felt some additional respect for his Dad for doing the same 50 years ago.
My oldest son just got his MD11 ticket - I'm kinda proud.
