And did that call that Navy bird Air Force One while he was on it ?

"Air Force One" is the AF plane the president happens to be on (not necessarily the 747). "Marine One" is the Marine helicopter he flies in and out of the White House. This S3 would have to be "Navy One".

Actually, they are all SAM (Special Air Mission) call signs when talking to controllers (at least it was that way 6 years ago when I got out of the AF)

Did you hear the President ask someone "Would you like a picture?" He is just so great, taking his time with these folks.

Reminds me of the scene in the film "Independence Day," when the president (portrayed by Bill Putnam) in a flight suit and about to hop in a cockpit, steps up on something and addresses the airmen about to go out and do battle with the aliens. The Prez deflects any suggestion from his advisor that perhaps he shouldn't go up with them.

I LOVE that scene!

I would've been a bundle of raw nerves, I swear and would've stammered through the whole 20 mins trying NOT to remember I was responsible for his safety! Kudos to the pilot!!!!!!!!

I just read your post outloud to my husband because he said the same thing while we were watching the landing. :)

It brings to mind that scene from INDEPENDENCE DAY where the POTUS leads a squadron of F18s into battle.

I always had trouble with that because I knew that no president would ever do that.

UNTIL NOW.

Looking at this CnC, you know that if need be, George W. Bush would do it. And the men would follow him.

I wonder how the pilot in the left seat earned this honor. Anyone want to tackle this?

Man, is this Pres having fun or what? And the best part is, you don't see any brass around! It's just the sailors and the pilots taking pictures with their CnC!

Ronaldus Magnus was my CnC. Dubya exudes the same sense of greatness.

Liberals expected to call Bush military dictator b/c he's wearing his fighter pilot garb... I call him a patriot, of course.

Did I see a small Air Force insignia on the fuselage of Navy One below the portside cockpit? Could this have been in recognition of the President's service as a National Guard pilot? You FR military experts let us know!

What a great day, and a great President! This is just too cool. I am SO proud of our President, and our military.
