"Our "educators" seem desperate to find almost anything to do other than actually educate the children entrusted to them. Writing letters to public figures, play-acting events in history, "discovering" math -- anything other than acquiring the intellectual skills they will need in adulthood."
===============================
Guys, this would be a good essay to print out and hand to ALL parents, high schoolers, and teachers. It is more stone cold truth about the evil that has become "education" today. Peace and love, George.

The federal school's have become as corrupt and worthless as much of the federal government. Now Cali is telling book publishers to remove all mention of the Founding Fathers, Mt. Rushmore, and junk food from school books.

All the schools herea in Texas are worried about is having the kids pass the TOS test. All efforts are focused on that goal only, to heck with the student having a real working understanding.

First, Canada College in San Mateo, California, held a job fair -- for kindergartners! Apparently there is nothing too silly to spend the taxpayers' money on, even when the state has a record deficit

Likely, the college found a way to use these young students in the accounting for purpuses of obtaining state funding.

Canada is where I took intensive spanish when I was a teacher in San Mateo County. The school itself is neat, clean, and serves the community well. The article is spot on in its claim that elementary and secondary schools will use every excuse to take a field trip. In fact, I think field trips in some screwy way define the "better" schools. Amazing, but I am no longer a teacher or a resident in the state of california.
