Dianne Feinstein Introduces .50 ban in U.S. Senate

Senator Dianne Feinstein has once again introduced a Senate bill that would essentially ban 50 caliber rifles, similar to federal bans on machine guns.
Feinstein is joined by the usual cast of gun banners, including Schumer (D-NY), Lautenberg (D-NJ), Kennedy (D-MA), Corzine (D-NJ), Durbin (D-IL) and Levin (D-MI).
Feinstein's efforts seeks to scare the public with all manner of exaggerations about the rifles, including the suggestion that the guns can hit targets from 4 miles away.
Feinstein's press release announcing the bill failed to mention that these rifles have been around for nearly 20 years and have never once been used to kill a single person in the U.S. Instead, she attempts to demonize and create fear in the minds of those unfamiliar with our firearms and 50 caliber target shooting, to further her agenda of banning guns.
As credible threats to public safety, .50 caliber rifles rank tied with Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and the Easter Bunny, all of which are tied to 0 fatalities in the U.S.
Fifty Caliber Shooters' Policy Institute will continue to aggressively oppose Senator Feinstein's attempts to demonize and ban .50 caliber rifles.

Thanks for the info.
We didn't have .50's, and I didn't have any corporals in my platoon who was called "Christ".

I keep telling you COB. If I break my shoulder, you better have a direct line to the nearest hospital! I'm a really rotten patient. LOL

TC,
patton nailed it in post #79.
"Since Christ was a corporal", eh? Har-har! I'll have to remember that one! $:-)

The kick of the 50 BMG is not bad at all -- you will be surprised. Between the slow-burning powder used, and the weight of the weapon, it's more like a "shove" than a "kick".
I predict: You'll like it. $:-)

I like to save old coffee cans. They're steel, so they can take it, and they are "just that perfect size". And of course you can see if you hit it way down range.

"Since Christ was a corporal", eh?" LOL!
Yep! That goes in my Gyrene handbook of favorite sayings.
Unlike the others, you could say that anywhere!
When the satellite guy was trying to explain how they were fixing the "cluster" today, I asked him if he knew what Marines always said about "clusters".
He didn't have a clue.

"it's more like a "shove" than a "kick"." Perfect description!

"But didn't Quigly use a 45-110?" I really don't know, but the guy at Outdoor World described it as exactly like the one used in the movie.
The picture doesn't do it justice.
The scroll work on the receiver is awesome!
It's perfectly balanced so that you can shoot it offhand almost as easily as from a rest.
I was surprised that it's made in Italy.
I like the double triggers. After setting the forward one it just takes a touch.

I've never shot either one of those!

That looks a lot like my Remington 700 LTR in .308, except for the longer barrel.

"...what part of the Right to keep and bear Arms, SHALL NOT be infringed is so incomprehensible in Basic English??Its not that the SOB's DON'T understand that - its that they DON'T CARE. The idea is to simply IGNORE the Constitution when writing lesgislation - to hell with Constitutional rights. And they have been creeping up on the Bill of Rights for years if not decades; tehy also know they have gotten the court system "packed" with left-wing judges that will simply rubber stamp all these rotten laws, that's why they desparately are working to keep Pres. Bush's judicial nominations from being confirmed.

"If I break my shoulder, you better have a direct line to the nearest hospital!" Rika, I fired 30 rounds through it day before yesterday.
It "shoves" hard, but you will love the power of that thing.

The 835 is a 12 gauge shotgun that wild turkeys and politicians don't like much. It shoots 2 3/4, 3, and 3 1/2 inch shells.
It's also a good self-defense gun (if I have room). Since I took out 1/2 of the trunk of a small tree once with it, I don't think too much gets up from it. It is a bit of a shoulderbreaker at first, but I'm used to it.
The 1911 is a nice pistol. I have a Rock Island which is more inexpensive than your Colt or Springfield, but it's accurate and does the job well.
