U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has been visting Iraq this Wednesday. Following a stop in the southern city of Basra, Rumsfeld moved onto the capital, Baghdad. He met with the U.S. appointed administrator for Iraq, Jay Garner. Later, he spoke to U.S. soldiers at Baghdad's airport. Asked about rumours that Washington was planning to pull troops out of Germany, Rumsfeld indicated that the rumours were true, but that the details had not yet been worked out. Those comments came one day after Rumsfeld announced that U.S. troops were pulling out of Saudi Arabia.

I think we should get out of NATO, and our next base to close should be the one in Turkey.

The Germans need to use their Bases!

I think some runway-cratering bomblets should slow them down...

i WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF WE ARE MOVING OUT OF GERMANY AND SAUDI ARABIA SO WE GIVE THEM A FALSE SENSE OF ABSENCE OF OUR FORCES. IN TURN, WHATEVER EVIL CRAP IT IS THEY ARE PLANNING WILL BEGIN AND WE WILL SPY ON THEM WITHOUT COMPROMISING ANY OF UR TROOPS ON THE GROUND. GREAT PLAN AS I SEE IT....LET THEM TRY TO RESURGE THE NAZI MOVEMENT...WE WILL CRUSH THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent 10 of my 20 years stationed in Germany. While I loved the country, the lakes, rivers, mountains, touring, etc., the one thing that bothered me all that time was how ungrateful most Germans were that we were there defending them from the Russian bear. They wanted our protection, but not us. American soldiers did commit criminal acts against Germans from time to time, but were caught, and severely punished by US military courts-martial or tried in German courts and jailed. For the most part, I generally found Germans nice people, but quite a few were very hateful, almost anti-American like.

I had a friend and his wife who were shopping downtown Frankfurt in a department store. While going through the store, a German worker followed them around, making comments to other store employees that these were Americans and she was making sure the "American trash" did not steal from the store. She made many other remarks about the guy and his wife. Then, to this German employee's shock, the wife turned and started talking to her in German! The wife WAS GERMAN herself and had heard every word! She told her husband that she had heard all she was going to listen too and turned it on in chewing out the employee in front of her other employees and other customers. Then she took her husband by the arm, yelled that she was proud of her AMERICAN SOLDIER husband for being there and defending a bunch of ungrateful, hateful bunch like them and they left the store!

In my travels in Germany, I saw a lot of historical places and things. I visited most all the "free' countries in the west during those 10 years. I like Austria and Switzerland also. Hated france (now I know why). I have now come to very much dislike Germans. My wife is of German ancestry, yet has never visited Germany. She wanted too visit there very much over the past years (we have been married only 8 and were not together when I was in the Army). Now, she has lost her want to go. She is a conservative, freedom loving gal like me and does not like the way the Germans treat us now. She said, I am an American, who just happened to have grandparents who came from Germany! Too hell with them! We will stay home! What a gal!

Can't help but wonder what is in store for Russia.

Punish France, ignore Germany, forgive Russia.

"Well, so that is why the Germans and the French are getting together to build a new Army!

I saaw a couple of articles about that yesterday. Had me chuckling most of the day, especially one that said Belgium was the driving force behind the effort."

Not only that, but Belgium is where NATO Headquarters is...... so...... bye bye NATO *s*

" They have all told me they worry alot about the Nazi Party coming back. I have been told that there are alot more Nazi's present than is talked about in their press. They seem to think the only thing holding the Nazi's in check is the US Army. If this is true and the US pulls out its army, then the hand writing is on the wall."

I don't think they have to worry about the Nazis as much as the muslic/islamic fundamentalist/extremists. *nodding* Their population in both France and Europe keep growing and growing....... there's gonna be a new world order within it's mini-order soon.

Well, I  wouldn't presume to know more than
someone who has been to Germany, but I don't
think Nazism is any more of a threat there than
unreconstructed Revolutionaries in the US
preparing  to attack King George again. ICBW.

Perhaps to help the German and French economies, we can be somewhat considerate.. We can hire their 'forces' and put a line of them across the USA southern border to halt the illegal immigration from Mexico. *nodding* That'll be a mutually beneficial thing.

If this is true, do we destroy all evidence that these bases ever existed, so as not to leave them in "enemy" hands?

... German economy ...

Probably it will help it, the German government has paid most of the bills for the U.S. forces being stationed there for some time.
