It's enough to make you weep. ANSWER/Richmond.indymedia.org are sponsoring a protest aimed at our troops in Norfolk, Va. I can't remember when I have felt so disgusted. We've got troops there who have just returned from the Gulf and troops who are getting ready to be deployed. And then these nuts have to go and call it "Mother's Day for Peace"! Well, this Mother is going to be there to support America's heroes.

The info culled from a couple of websites, including richmond.indymedia.org:

Prelims: Puppet Making (I kid you not!) this Saturday, May 3rd from 10 am to 4 pm at the Norfolk Caltholic Worker, 1321 W. 38th St., Norfolk, VA 23508

Festive Rally: Sunday, May 11th, 2:00 pm at Lafayette Park, followed by

The March: 5:00 pm, past the MLK monument ending at the USS Wisconsin Naval Museum.

Direct Action: Monday, May 12th, during morning rush hour, TBA (In Richmond, they like to put on black girdles and ride bicycles in and out of traffic).

As much as I would love to have a giant Hillary puppet, I am going to pass on that workshop but will be attending the "Festive Rally" and March.

If anyone knows of any counter demos being planned please let me know. I will try to get directions to the park later this week and will post any other info I get.

And if any of you Women in Black are planning to attend; I'll be the Mom in red, white and blue and so help me I'll have a megaphone even if I have to go without cigarettes for 2 weeks to afford it. Heheheh.

Is that little protest of theirs on the 12th gonna be around Norfolk?? If they're riding bicycles down that way they're just asking for an ass whipping. Traffic going into NAS Norfolk's bad enough in the morning without having to deal with this crap, I should know, my husband's stationed there (currently out to sea on a routine predeployment check underway)

According to their itinerary, there will be a meeting at 7:30 pm Sunday, May 11th, after the march, where the "nonviolent civil disobedience direct action" will be announced.

I don't know if they will be riding bicycles or throwing up on sidewalks. Maybe enough of them will be arrested Sunday to squelch any effective disruption.

You may want to contact your local media about it. While it may serve to give the antis more publicity it may also motivate people to counter with pro-America, pro-Troops actions.
