This is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. 0.5% is a big hit for such small news.

This is great news! It should be unthinkable to allow a foreign country to own telecom lines.

First we git some good news... Then we git some bad news...

I see it din't do "W" any good to re-appoint GREENSPAM!!!

11:07AM Greenspan: Fiscal policy still a poor stimulus tool by William L. Watts

Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan told House lawmakers he remains skeptical of the government's ability to use fiscal policy to stimulate the economy. "It's very difficult to fine-tune fiscal policy for short term stimulus purposes and I've tended to be very supportive of the employment of fiscal policy for long term structural growth issues and leave monetary policy to be applied in the short run," Greenspan said. President Bush has touted his $726 billion tax package as both a long-term growth aid and as a key to boosting the economy and job creation in the short run. The Fed still has room to cut interest rates "if we choose to move and we decide that stimulus is required ... I still have not changed my view about what the appropriate balance is," Greenspan said.

"I stumbled across your reply, just by happenstance... "

Please forgive me for being so rude. Ernesto and I were wrackin our branes as to who had been doing the biggest job of trackin this fiasco. He mentioned you and I forgot to ping you to my reply so's you'd know we were talkin typin about you. Sorry sir!!!

These bizarre dealings were part of the over-all "equalization" scheme to bring the Supercalifragulistic USA down to the lowest common denominator... Worldwide Commonism!!!

Never forget Hitlary's commencement speach... "Earth could be FAIR!" The fairness doctrine is determined to be detrimental to success and acheivement, especially by unauthorized individuals as well as nations... as you well know!

Now GreenSpam is chiming in with those chiselling away at the President's miniscule tax reduction proposal! Next we'll hear him refer to it as "Voodoo Economics" or some such bizarre baloney!!!

It seems a miricle to me that this economy functions at all with the undue burdening and harassment from extortion pukes like Jesse Jackson, some union "leaders," EnvironMentalists and even some well meaning dummies like GreenSpam saying stupid stuff that confuses the issue further! Voinovich, Snow and that Repellican Senator from R.I. don't need this kind of ignorant encouragement.

I believe these dopes deliberately ignore the immediate and lasting success of the Reagan Tax Cuts to the detriment of not only the USA, but the entire Earth!!!

"...does that mean we can't be arrogant capitalist pigs anymore?"

Absolutely NOT!!!

As long as we still have an overload of arrogant anti-capitalist PRIGS in the liberal dominated media/hollywood and government... Just keep on truckin with the capitalistic arrogance. It's what draws everyone in the world to this country instead of makin 'em wanna leave!!!

Actually, it's pretty far reaching news when you review all the ramifications!

Anyway, we should have built it in Nicaragua.

Is it still possible we could do this? That would be great if we could bypass the old Panama Canal altogether with a new super canal that could accommodate aircraft carriers...

But then the enviro-whackos might gripe that the fresh water lake in the middle of Nicaragua would get contaminated with salt water from the oceans. I think they have the only fresh water shark in the world in that lake. Ah, modern living. Ayn Rand is spinning in her grave...

Go here and educate yourself.

Hey, calm down. If you have information, then share it.

I used to live in the Canal Zone.

I don't see why not.

But then the enviro-whackos might gripe that the fresh water lake in the middle of Nicaragua would get contaminated with salt water from the oceans.

Well, it used to be a salt water bay connected to the ocean. Then it got cut off by a volcanic eruption and the salinity slowly dropped. That's how they got the freshwater sharks. So I think any "contamination" argument would be a weak one.

I'm not sure they would (or even could) use a gravity feed system like the Panama Canal, though. Note that to operate the Panama Canal they dump freshwater into the ocean.

Few, if any, of the braying Jackasses you see on the TV want you, or I, or much of anyone else keeping and spending our own money- God forbid they be keep from getting their hands on it. There really are times I wish I could go back in time, say to the 1890's, when there was a lot less government interference with everyone's life & business.
