London - Most Britons regard France as their least reliable ally and have warmed to the United States since the war in Iraq, a poll published on Monday showed.
The MORI poll in the Financial Times newspaper showed that 55 percent of Britons regard France as their least reliable ally. No other country got into double figures.
By contrast, 73 percent of those polled considered the United States to be their most reliable ally.
The poll showed that, while Britons still regard Europe as more important to them than the United States, the balance has shifted over the past year.
Forty-two percent of those polled said Europe was more important to Britain than either the United States or the Commonwealth, down from 50 percent a year ago.
Those viewing the United States as most important rose to 34 percent from 29 percent this time last year.
France led bitter opposition to the war in Iraq while Britain was by far Washington's closest and most important ally in the toppling of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
Britain strove to reconcile the differing views in the United States and Europe but ultimately failed in its bid to get a further resolution from the United Nations Security Council sanctioning the use of force in Iraq.
Pollsters MORI interviewed 2 075 adults for the survey between April 10 and 15.

It ought to be more like 100%. Who else but the Yanks could the Brits count on more?

The French ARE The Weakest Link! Can't possibly be. A US diplomat was on FOX just today telling us all how the American people and the French people aren't mad at each other and as soon as the governments and Presidents make nice again everything will be hunky-dory.

France is in an unenviable situation.
If Russia (or Germany, or the muslim hordes) were to attack today, it is doubtful that the US and Britain would rush to her aid.
As a matter of fact, the muslim hordes ARE attacking France today, in their own very special way. France has surrendered.
In the meantime, France has adopted many muslim-arab traits: lying, bluster.

France has betrayed the United States in such a way that the damage may never be repaired. I cannot think of a worse betrayal by a "friend" in the history of this United States. I know that I will never knowingly buy another French product again. Nor will I ever visit that country. Like Tony Soprano might say: "France? France is dead to me."

The most reliable allies for America: Great Britain and Australia
The most reliable allies for Great Britain: America and Australia

Churchill had it right: the destiny of the English Speaking Peoples are inextricably entwined, and we all know it in our guts.
