NBC News correspondant Ashleigh Banfield has ripped television news networks, including her own, for their 'glorious' coverage of the Iraq war and lack of focus on international news overall.
In a speech Thursday at Kansas State University, she also attacked NBC News for hiring right wing radio talk show host Michael Savage to do a show on MSNBC. Savage recently called Banfield a 'slut' after her reports portraying the radical Arab point of view.
Banfield, who first won notoriety for her coverage from the World Trade Center on 9/11, might be in some trouble for her comments.
In a statement issued in Friday, NBC News said, 'Ms. Banfield does not speak for NBC News. We are deeply disappointed and troubled by her remarks, and will review her comments with her. In the meantime we want to emphasize how proud we are of the journalism produced by NBC News and of the men and women who worked around the clock, even risking their lives, to bring this story to the American public.'

Dick Cheney had it wrong when he opted to be on 'The Savage Nation' ?
Oh, come on now. I think he's more like the 'Liberace' of journalism. His music may sound a little harsh at times, but he's really a gentle and caring person. How can anyone not swoon when he talks about meat balls.
Rage is an acceptable response to those who want to tear down our Nation -- and Savage is serving notice.
He's not a violent man, but he knows how to fight -- and when. He also knows there's nothing to be gained by avoiding or delaying a confrontation. If you don't share his attitudes about confrontation, you have probably never had to take a stand.
Unlike the big talkers on this thread, Savage works and fights in the real world, where people know his real name, face, and address -- and he's winning big time. If you don't like what he says, stop your anonymous whining; Call him and tell him!
What is the secret of this bombast's appeal to Americans? Can you stop him by slinging mud? Will an appeal to 'moderation' bring Savage's listeners back to reality?
Stay tuned, and learn the answers.
BULLCRAP!
How is Savages statement about liberal journalists being shot for treason any less inflammatory than Ann Coulter saying "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."
What's your beef with Savage unless you have another agenda?
During 2000 election cycle he courted one of Gore's campaign managers on the air because he was angry the Bush people didn't publically credit him with the term "compassionate conservative". It was embarrassing & many of us won't forget some of the stuff he said.
He's the right's rabble-rouser and firebrand, something sorely needed on our side.
I'm tired of mealy-mouthed, milquetoast conservatives like Hannity and Rush. They are the voice of the "nice guy" conservative, and that's well and fine.
But Savage is smash-mouth conservativism and its been a long time coming. The right needs someone to take the same agit-prop tactics of the left, the same "in your face" tactics of the left, and give it right back to them.
Savage is not an embarrassment to the right, far from it. He's a much needed counterpunch to the left's viciousness.
Hannity and Rush, etc, are all well and fine, and they attract the timid, spineless, suburban soccer-mom crowd.
Savage is on a whole other level, and it's a godsend to our side as we've been lacking someone with his ability to rip the left.
Savage "is like a mean drunk"? How? Because he has fire? Because he actually shows some passion for his side? For his country? Against a radical left that he believes is destroying something he loves? That's "a mean drunk"?
So the left gets to pull their vicious sh!t, and put all their vile hate for America, on display, they get to work night and day for the destruction of this country, and our side is supposed to play patty-cakes with them, and present nice, safe, timid, tame reasoned debate all the time?
Bullsh!t.
Savage is exactly what we need. It's too bad if the timid little suburban mom crowd can't take the "anger". Savage isn't looking for you as a member of his audience. Savage is looking for people like myself as his audience - people who are tired of the "nice guy" attitude and tactics of our side, while the vicious pr!cks on the other side constantly get the upperhand because they're louder and agitate at a higher decible.
No thank. I want someone like Savage who isn't afraid to scream back, show the same rage, and who'll kick 'em in the b@lls.
